AKG K702 Reference Studio Headphones - Open-Back

The AKG K702 is a set of studio reference headphones that are equipped with a 3D-foam earpads to provide comfort for long wearing sessions.

The flat-wire voice coils and patented Varimotion two-layer diaphragm provides a reasonably accurate level of frequency response making them suitable for precision listening, mixing and mastering.

  • Driver Diameter: 45mm
  • Magnet Type: Neodymium
  • Frequency Response: 10 - 39800 Hz
  • Maximum Input Power: 200 mW
  • Sensitivity: 105 dB
  • Impedance: 62 Ohms
  • Weight: 8.3 oz.
  • Cable and Connector: 1/8" stereo plug with 1/4” screw-on adapter

The general consensus in user reviews is that these have a very neutral frequency response with a wide sound stage and accurate reproduction of sounds. They don't have overly sibilant highs and his makes them less fatiguing while wearing them for long hours.

Some people report that they feel heavy, although still comfortable to wear. Some also mentioned the headband was uncomfortable at first but later on found this was no longer a problem after using them often.

We were recommending these headphones until we performed an in depth review in July 2018 and at that time we found there were more highly rated options to recommend in our guide to The Best Open Back Headphones for Mixing and Mastering.
