Boss Micro BR BR-80

Gearank Recommendation

The Boss Micro BR BR-80 appeared on our recommended list for Digital Multitrack Recorders from our first edition in February 2016 where it remained until August 2020 when it was removed due to being out-ranked by the TASCAM DP-008EX and Zoom LiveTrak L-8.

Overview

The Boss Micro BR BR-80 is a portable multitrack recorder that fits in your pocket and is designed for use by all musicians, but it comes with some special features specifically designed for guitarists including Roland's COSM amp and effect emulators.

It has three modes you can use it in:

  1. MTR - multi-track recorder
  2. eBand - jam along with prerecorded tracks
  3. Live Rec - record using the built-in stereo condenser mic

Overall, if you're looking for something portable you can record ideas with at any time, and intend to use it as an audio interface, then you'll find the Boss Micro BR BR-80 fits the bill nicely, but you wouldn't want it to be your primary platform for producing music on - it's best thought of as a 'sketch-pad' for recording.

My Encoder Wheel was

My Encoder Wheel was defective from first one I got. They replaced it then the wheel went bad again , they fix it then it failed again after now warranty was over. I put aside > now I see many have had this isse , yet Boss fails to acknowledge this or repair again. Nor help me by even offering shipping free if I agree to pay to fix which after 3 times I am afraid to invest more. I wish Boss purchasers of this item who have this Scroll Encoder Wheel issue would band together and get Boss to fix or design a better wheel. First Boss product I have that failed on me and I have many to date. To note their customer service has gone way down hill. hard to contact and hard to find a person who would help knowing I had issues with this unit since new.
