The DP184 appeared on our recommended list for Budget Guitar Pickups in 3 consecutive editions from December 2019 until October 2022 when it was removed due to us deciding to no longer include individual Telecaster pickups.

Overview

The Twang King Neck pickup is designed as an idealized version of a vintage telecaster/broadcaster pickup and not based off any actual vintage pickup because according to the designers they never found one they were 100% happy with.

It was designed to handle a very wide dynamic range responding to different levels of pick attack - light playing produces a softer, cleaner sound while hard playing causes the pickup to open up.

This "take the best parts and leave the rest" approach resulted in an expressive pickup that offers the best of what a Tele neck pickup should sound like.
