The elysia xpressor was on our recommended list for 500 Series Compressors from May 2017 until June 2018 when it had been out-ranked by other compressors.

Overview

This 500-series version of elysia's xpressor rackmount is a stereo compressor based on a Class A discrete circuitry. Its circuitry makes its transistors always conductive resulting in less crossover distortion and giving it a wide, open and punchy sonic base.

This universal compressor's switchable semi-automation lets you set the perfect attack that influences the attack parameter on short and loud impulses.

Its log release feature follows a logarithmic course to provide a gentle kind of compression instead of a standard linear progress.

The sidechain filter helps avoid pumping and over-compression when there's a lot of low energy in the mix.

The Warm Mode switch allows the alteration of the frequency spectrum, harmonics and transient response that gives the sound a saturated richness.

Its Gain Reduction Limiter is used to limit the signal in the sidechain and controls the maximum amount of gain reduction the compressor is allowed to make.

This compressor is a good choice if you are looking for an all-around versatile compressor with a different set of compression options. It's great choice if you are looking for a clean sounding compressor for your mix bus.
