I own 5 of these stands. All but 2 have failed over the years (about 10 years, moderate use gigging.) They're actually great stands until the failure, which occurs at the same location every time. The adjustable screw that is supposed to hold the tripod assembly in place, strips and becomes useless. There is no way to get inside the assembly to attempt a repair, and there is also no way, without a special tool they, no doubt, have in their factory, to remove the vertical rod from the assembly in order to cannibalize parts. If you could remove that rod, you might actually be able to replace the stripped nut to save your gig, and restore the mike stand to usefulness. I won't be buying another one!
