It gets good reviews for durability with some parents reporting that it's still going strong well after a year since they bought it. Many people said in their customer reviews that it was fairly easy to set up when it arrived, however, some said the exact opposite. The number of people who found assembly relatively easy well outnumbered those who had trouble with it. While it can't be considered a 'professional' drum kit, it does the job well of introducing young children to the instrument and it will last long enough for them until they require moving up to a higher level kit. Reviews are filled with parents and grandparents reporting how happy kids were to receive this as a Christmas or birthday present.
The main complaints were about the quality of the cymbals - quite a common complaint with budget drums. There were a few complaints about the difficulty in setting up the kit, some suggested there should be better instructions included and some said parts should be labeled. It only has single braced hardware, but that's strong enough for young kids - just be careful about letting adults sit on the drum throne. Also, there were some reports of the bass pedal being squeaky, some lubrication might be required.
This is a great starter drum set for kids aged 3 to 10. But with this being only a 3-piece drum set, be ready to upgrade to a 4 or 5-piece kit once your child has gotten more serious about drumming.
