Ibanez AEW22CD Acoustic-Electric Guitar

When it was released in 2014 this is what GuitarSite.com had to say...

The Ibanez AEW22CD is part of their new affordable AEW Exotic series, featuring "Cordia" wood for the back, sides and rosette.

The classic spruce top is well complemented by the exotic looking back and sides, resulting in a premium looking acoustic-electric that surprisingly has a very affordable price tag.

According to Ibanez: "This fresh approach merges a classic Spruce top with an elegant exotic tonewood back-and-sides... The exotic tonewoods give each respective model a distinctive tone and appearance that will garner attention and inspire the imagination."

At the core of the Ibanez AEW22CD is its 4" max depth body with soft Florentine cutaway. The guitar's spruce top is supported by "Cordia" back and sides, a reasonably priced tonewood that is considered as "underrated" by some. The elegant looking rosette serves as the centerpiece, featuring wooden marquetry w/Cordia, spalted maple and rosewood.

The neck of the guitar is made of mahogany, and comes with a comfortable playing profile, as expected from Ibanez instruments. The scale length is 648mm, nut width is 42mm, and the fretboard radius is 250mmR.

The guitar's thinner body profile makes it ideal for plugging in, of which Ibanez equipped the guitar with a Fishman Sonicore pickup paired to an Ibanez AEQ-SP2 preamp. It comes with basic EQ and volume controls plus a built-in tuner. You connect the guitar to your amp or PA via the 1/4" and XLR outputs. Wrapping up the features of the guitar

The chrome die-cast tuners with black knobs and multi-wooden binding on both the body and headstock wraps up the AEW22CD's features.
