Gearank Recommendation

The Jasmine S-34C appeared in the first edition of our recommended list for Acoustic Guitars Under $200 from November 2016 until January 2018.

It also appeared on our recommended list for Beginner Acoustic Guitarsfrom our first edition in July 2017 until September 2020.

In January 2022 we announced the results of our annual analysis of acoustic guitar brands – Jasmine ranked 8th.

Overview

Jasmine make a number of entry level guitars and one of their more popular and highly rated is their S-34C model.

This guitar’s body falls into the “Grand Orchestra” category, which is rounder and slightly smaller than a dreadnought. The difference isn’t dramatic, but a Grand Orchestra is definitely more manageable for children or smaller framed adults.

The body also has a cutaway, which is when a chunk of the body is removed to make it easier to play on the upper frets. This really doesn’t matter on a beginner instrument, but many guitarists will appreciate its inclusion when they advance.

  1. I’m a professional guitarist with a 50-year career, and I just bought this guitar (Jasmine S34C). It is by far the best-sounding $100 guitar I’ve ever experienced, and actually eclipses many brands costing 2, 3 or 4 times as much. While this will mainly be my practicing guitar, the tone and projection will most likely find it on stage with me from time to time.
