Line 6 Spider V 20 MkII 1x8" 20-watt Guitar Combo Modeling Amp

Gearank High Notes

The Spider V 20 MkII appeared on our recommended list for Modeling Combo Amps Under $1000 from August 2020 until June 2021.

Overview

The Line 6 Spider series continues to be a big contender in the entry level guitar amp market, and Spider V 20 MkII is their current representative in the sub $200 price range.

As expected at this price, this compact amp is mostly meant for practice, and has a somewhat streamlined feature set.

Still, streamlined for Line 6 is more than plenty compared with what others in this price range offer.

It lets you mix and match 78 amps, 24 x cabs and 4 x Mics, which should be more than enough even for heavy tweakers.

If that's not enough, it also has over 100 effects models built-in. There are also 200 presets to play with, many of which are artist created, while others are set to emulate guitar tones from famous songs.

The main limitation is its quieter 20-Watt 1x8" combo configuration and the lack of DI output, but it does have USB out for connecting with your computer.

New with their MKII line is the ability to turn off amp and mic simulation, for a more classic amp like behavior.

If all you're looking for is an affordable practice amp with sonic versatility, then check out the Spider V MkII, a good all-around amp that'll easily meet the demands of most entry to intermediate level players.
