M-Audio Oxygen 25 MKIV 25-Key USB MIDI Keyboard Controller

The M-Audio Oxygen 25 MkIV is the fourth iteration of the company’s sleek MIDI keyboard and it is highly rated by reviewers for having full size keys while being compact and easily portable at the same time. It carries over the same impressive keyboard feel with easy DAW integration via transport controls, and adds in 8 velocity-sensitive pads for triggering loops and samples.

Many owners like the DirectLink feature which allows you to automatically configure the Oxygen 25 to work with Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Cubase, Logic Pro X, GarageBand, and Reason. Some people found that the auto setup didn't work for them and this was the main reason some people gave it negative reviews.

There are 8 assignable knobs for parameter control and dedicated buttons for conveniently controlling your DAW without having to use your mouse and keyboard. It can be automatically mapped to popular DAW software, making it a true plug and play MIDI controller ideal for both beginners and on-the-go professionals.

The original version lacked pads, but this is now addressed in the MkIV version. Thankfully, the pads are added without compromising the 25 full-size velocity sensitive keys that endeared the Oxygen 25 to pianists. It has consistent user reviews that testify about the feel of the keys, which is easily on par with keyboards that are more expensive.

Here's another Meta-Review of M-Audio Oxygen 25 MK IV by Denise Azucena

Although the Oxygen 25 MK IV isn't as highly rated as it was when we first published this guide back in 2015, I've decided to include it as my Editor's Pick because despite the competition from newer options it is still very popular with Gearank readers.

One of the features positively mentioned in user reviews is its full size keys set in a compact unit which is quite portable.

Many also like the DirectLink feature which allows you to automatically configure the Oxygen 25 to work with Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Cubase, Logic Pro X, GarageBand, and Reason. Some people found that the auto setup didn't work for them and this was the main reason some people gave it negative reviews.

Key features:

The 8 knobs can be assigned to control plugins, and the assignable fader can control things like the master mixer, in your DAW - this saves you from having to use your mouse for these functions.
