Martin’s M120 Silver Plated Nylon strings are one of the most affordable nylon string sets available, but based on user reception they do seem to have a tendency to be somewhat fragile.
The D string in particular seems to be the most issue-prone string in the set, with many reviewers stating that the string’s plating unwound within a few days of the set being put on. It is always possible that the breakage users experienced is a result of operator error as opposed to a flaw with the strings, but it’s something to be aware of nonetheless.
Musicians who didn’t experience string breakage found that the strings had a respectable tone for the price tier. The silver-plated basses give the strings an impressive amount of clarity for the price, making them an excellent fit for those of you with cedar topped instruments.
