Gearank High Notes
Gearank Recommendation
The Seagull Entourage Rustic appeared on our recommended list for Acoustic Guitars in the $500 to $1000 price category when we published the first edition back in November 2016. It was removed from the list in June 2018 due to being discontinued.
In January 2022 we announced the results of our annual analysis of acoustic guitar brands – Seagull ranked 4th.
Overview
Seagull is one of the leading brands in this price range – in fact both the Entourage Rustic Dreadnought and the S6 Original Cedar were the equally highest rated acoustic guitars in the $300 to $500 price bracket when we first put them on our recommend list back in November 2016.
Seagull instruments are consistently some of the more highly rated instruments in their price bracket, and the Entourage Rustic Dreadnought is no exception. Like other Seagull acoustic guitars, the Entourage Rustic is packed full of unique features.
The most interesting feature of this guitar is that the top is actually slightly arched. This helps to increase stability (an arch is stronger than a flat surface) as well as increase projection. The arched top also helps to brighten the tone of the guitar, which helps to give the guitar a more balanced tone considering the cedar top.
Seagullโs headstock also has a function: increasing tuning stability. Because the tuning posts are in line with their corresponding slots in the nut thereโs less pressure on the strings above the nut, which helps to alleviate tuning instability.
