To make this guitar stand stable, On-Stage made sure that the upper part of the assembly does not inadvertently rotate. They do this by using a "v" groove with friction knob that locks the upper part in place.

It is crafted from metal, with some velveteen rubber paddings at contact points to prevent any damage to your guitar's finish.

Other features include flush end caps and a security strap.

Nothing ground breaking about this stand, yet it's simple and effective design along with its accessible price makes it the practical choice for many. And as far as market sentiment goes, owners are happy that it gets the job done, nothing more and nothing less. There are even many who use this stand on more expensive guitars with nitrocellulose finish and report that it does not affect the finish in any way. Although it still pays to be careful by putting a clean cloth between the rubber and the guitar if you're going to leave the guitar on the stand for longer periods.

There are some reports of quality inconsistencies, where some stands are shipped with different parts - make sure you get it from a reputable seller. And there are a few who caution that the stand can easily be knocked over, but this is also true for many stands if you're not careful.

If you're looking for an affordable tripod guitar stand that can get the job done, the On-Stage XCG4 is for you.

Although this was previously on our recommended list there are now more highly rated options available which you can see in our guide to The Best Guitar Stands.
