Gearank Recommendation

The Alter Ego V2 appeared on our recommended list for Digital Delay Pedals from August 2017 until April 2019 when it was removed due to a lack of availability.

The TC Electronic Alter Ego V2 Vintage Echo Digital Delay Pedal is a hard pedal to describe because it’s essentially a delay modeler.

Through the use of TC Electronic’s TonePrint software you can either create or download patches that modify a variety of parameters.

Even better, the unit includes 9 presets based on famous delay effects. The models were tweaked by the TC Electronic team as well as the folks over at ProGuitarShop.

The presets include: the Binson Echorec 2, the Electro-Harmonic Deluxe Memory-Man Chorus, the Tel Ray Organ Tone, the TC Electronic 2290 Modulated, the Reverse Modulated, the Boss DM-2, the Watkins Copykat, the Maestro Echoplex 1, and the Roland Space Echo. The unit includes both a looper, a stereo and mono output, as well as tap tempo functionality.

In summation, like other TC Electronic Effects the Alter Ego Vintage Echo V2 Delay is a good pedal with the potential to be a great one.

You can get just about any sound you want, but you’re going to get more out of it if you’re willing to play around with the TonePrint software.
