Gearank Recommendation
The Tosnail 12″ Silent Drum Practice Pad appeared on our recommended list for Drum Practice Pads from November 2017 until October 2018 when it was removed due to a lack of availability.
Overview
If you’re looking for a simple and affordable drum pad, you definitely can’t go wrong with Tosnail’s 12″ Silent Drum Practice Pad. It doesn’t have the response or versatility of the RealFeel series, or the accuracy of feel you get with the Invader, but at the same time it’s easily affordable for beginning musicians.
While the Tosnail 12″ Silent Drum Practice Pad does have two sides, the sponge side doesn’t seem to be intended to be used as a playing surface. Rather, it seems to be more intended as a dampener for the resonance of the main playing surface. It also helps to keep the pad in place while you’re playing.
As a playing surface, gum rubber is pretty bouncy. This makes it great for working on your accuracy, but it isn’t the best option if you’re looking for a pad that you can use to increase your playing stamina.
Lastly, an added bonus with this practice pad is that Tosnail actually included an extra set of drum sticks. While most drummers more than likely already have several pairs of sticks at their disposal, the inclusion of extra sticks makes this pad an attractive option for budding percussionists.
