Overview

The WA-47jr is Warm Audio’s recreation of the “47” style microphone with FET circuitry rather than the tube circuit found on its bigger brother, the WA-47.

The original “47 FET” was just as popular as the tube version, with countless records being made with it.

The WA-47jr uses the same 47 style capsule as the more expensive WA-47. The custom capsule paired with discrete circuitry design gives the WA-47jr a vintage vibe similar to its namesake original.

Female vocals take on a sweet character with very few harsh frequencies. Male voices, particularly baritones, result in a rich low end.

Some people also use a pair as overheads or use them as room mics.

Despite the high specifications, Warm Audio managed to keep the price within reach of everyday musicians, producers and songwriters.

Although it is a well regarded mic, don’t expect it to sound exactly like a U47Fet at this price.

If you’re looking to expand your mic catalog with a vintage sounding all-rounder, the Warm Audio WA-47jr is right up your alley.
