Gearank Recommendation
The APXT2 appeared on our recommended list for Acoustic-Electric Guitars Under $200 from March 2020 until August 2021 when a price increase made it ineligible for that list.
Overview
The Yamaha APXT2 3/4 Thinline is a compact guitar that’s meant to appeal to younger players, or to those who just want a small grab-and-go instrument.
It is based on Yamaha’s popular APX500, only this one is 3/4-sized, ideal for smaller hands or for those who want an affordable and portable acoustic-electric instrument.
Its thinline body has a distinct cutaway, and sports meranti back and sides, and a top crafted from spruce.
Electronics include ART-based preamp and System 68 contact pickup with built-in tuner.
