Yamaha DXS12 12" 600W Powered Subwoofer (Discontinued)
Street Price:
Manufacturer:

This 12" subwoofer from Yamaha uses their built in D-XSUB low frequency processing technology, which they say produces a stronger bottom end than you would expect from a 12" driver.
With its relatively smaller woofer and 600W RMS power rating, this subwoofer reproduces more sonic detail at the cost of losing some ultra low thump.

Pros
Many customer reviews say that the Yamaha DXS12 sounds just as good to them as larger 15" and even 18" subs and it does appear to have a Max SPL rating to support this view. It also received compliments about how easy it is to set up. A good number of users describe it as unbelievably good for the money.
Cons
While it does work great for small venues, there were a few users who noted that it does not have enough projection to be a main subwoofer for bigger venues.
Overall
Unfortunately it's hard to find new at stores so we recommend other options in our guide to The Best PA Subwoofers.
