Problem / My Solution

I really like the build of this product with one caveat. The back support arm is straight. This causes you to be pitched forward in the seating position. My solution was to wrap the seat end of the support arm inside of a glove to protect the finish, then insert it into the hitch receiver of my truck and slightly bend it back. This proved to be a success. Your mileage may vary.

Built like a brick house.

This seat is a monster. Beautifully designed with contrast stitching and over engineered parts and workings.
The corkscrew seat post is a super solid part of the operating of this chair. The back rest is great.
Maybe could use a longer slot on the seat adjustment to push the backrest further back.
The seat is comfortable but could be slightly bigger for my big butt.
I'm happy with it for sure.
Music background: Playing drums for forty years.

great deal for the money

This made a great addition to my drum set up. It is much stronger and is a welcome piece of equipment.

Gibralter 9608MB Drum Throne w/back rest

~ POSITIVES :

{1} Stable rubber feet which grab great!

{2} Rock solid hardware used, easy to adjust and break down!

{3} Solid construction, should last for years!

~ NEGATIVES :

{1} The back rest mounts itself too far forward, even with it extended as far back as possible in the mount,
which forces you to sit your crotch on the front edge of the seat, which then feels like you are sitting on a 10 speed bicycle seat.
I had to take and put the seat back into a vice and bend it from it's hard right angle "L" shape,
and bent it into about a 60* angle {see photos} in order for me to be able to sit farther back on the seat cushion
so as to make it position my rear end on the seat as it would have been if there were no backrest involved on it.

{2} The "material" {fabric} for the bottom of the seat cushion and backrest,
is like a black "crushed velour" or "brushed cotton", which collects every single bit of lint or fuzz or hair coming near it.
This makes the seat and backrest look tacky in no time at all.I have use a roller type lint brush in order to keep it clean.

{3} The workmanship on the back of MY seat back was really poorly done,
the tacks were not uniformly spaced and looked as if somebody didn't acre,
or was in a hurry nailing them on. {see photo}

CONCLUSION -

Even after having to bend the backrest bracket,
their questionable choice of seating fabric,
and the misstep with the tacks,

I still love the seat -
and am glad to have it for use on stage at church playing guitar ~

This is my second one. Fits my body well. Well built.

This is my second purchase of this Gibraltar 9608MB Moto-style Drum Throne with Backrest (I liked the first one so much). The first one (purchased here too a few years ago) is used with my Roland td-27kv kit solely in the studio.... and this one will be used with a Gretsch Renown kit, both in studio and also for light gigging.

This throne is quite a heavy-duty build. So it weighs a considerable amount. All of the parts on both of the ones I've bought are well put together. The assembly was simple. Because of the added backrest, it is not as simple a "fold up" as a throne without a backrest..... but that is the "price" of having a backrest. I keep it pretty intact and transport it that way.

Like others have mentioned in reviews, I have modified the backrest slightly (bending parts) to get the exact fit I want for my particular body and how I sit at the kit. Ergonomics is a very fussy and particular field, so what works for one person will not necessarily work for another. And "custom fitting" in that field is almost always necessary. So "you tweak".

All in all..... a very nice throne. Try sitting on one.
