Behringer V-Tone ADI21 Acoustic Amp Modeler at a Glance:
  • Microphone/tube emulation delivers excellent, natural sound
  • Onboard EQ shapes your tone and conquers feedback
  • Behringer - a brief history
Microphone/tube emulation delivers excellent, natural sound

Sometimes piezo pickups sound artificial and overly bright. By combining the features of an active DI with proprietary microphone/tube emulation circuitry, the Behringer V-Tone ADI21 acoustic amp modeler restores warmth and low-end response to your tone, resulting in a rich, natural sound. You can also use the ADI21's blend control to mix the amount of modeled tone with your instrument's normal output, granting you enormous tonal versatility.

Onboard EQ shapes your tone and conquers feedback

By using the V-Tone ADI21's onboard 3-band EQ, you can effectively eliminate the harsh harmonics of piezo pickups. The EQ's sweepable mids grant you even more tone-sculpting power. You can also adjust the ADI21's EQ in order to reduce the inevitable feedback that occurs when you amplify an acoustic guitar onstage. Complete with a ground lift switch, the ADI21 is an onstage lifesaver!

Behringer - a brief history

Uli Behringer showed an interest in music technology design at a young age, building his own synthesizer by the age of 16. In 1982, Uli began studying sound engineering and classical piano at the Robert Schumann conservatory in Dusseldorf, Germany. Uli's defining moment came when he was repairing a signal processor made by a high-end manufacturer. Despite the processor's expensive price tag, Uli realized that its internal components could be bought for a fraction of the cost. Being a strapped-for-cash student, Uli began building his own signal processors. Before he knew it, other students began requesting equipment from him. In 1989, after being bombarded with more orders than he could handle by himself, Uli created Behringer, Inc.

Behringer V-Tone ADI21 Acoustic Amp Modeler Features:
  • Authentic microphone/tube emulation modeling circuitry provides natural warmth and presence
  • Ultra-musical 3-band EQ with sweepable mids for tone-sculpting and feedback control
  • Super-high impedance to retain maximum signal integrity and dynamics
  • Dual DI mode lets you bypass tube/microphone emulation for standard active DI functionality
  • Ground lift switch eliminates typical ground loop problems

Just what my piezo needed !

After much research and not just wanting to ditch my APX600 Yamaha, which is a great guitar, I went with the Behringer AD21 and was able to "quiet the quack".

The AD21 is a great addition to my acoustic board and now I'm hearing a tone that I love and combining it with the Behringer Ultra Chorus, the sound is great. I know Behringer sometimes gets the bad rap for being a "cheap, plastic pedal" but in my case it is a perfect fit !

worth the money

This is a good choice and adds value to sound of my acoustic guitar.
I plug my acoustic guitar into the AD121; the output goes to the mixer.

Great Powered DI Pedal

Does exactly as advertised, and adds a rich, warm tone to the overall sound of the guitar. Definitely recommend getting this if you're looking for a cheaper way to improve your sound.

A great tool for what I do

First off this is my second one of these. The first one I loaned out and they plugged in the wrong power supply and let the smoke out of the box , so pay attention in that regard. so I play and record a Kalimba using a piezo pickup. I use the ADI21 along with a reverb pedal and a tremolo pedal to make the sound pretty awesome. I have to say if you are playing a acoustic instrument or anything with a piezo pickup the Behringer ADI21 makes a world of difference and makes life so much easier when you hook into a sound system of any kind.

Works as advertised

I recently got Dean resonator guitar which loader than any of my acoustics unplugged. However the single pick up is quite weak compared to my other electrics. I also was hoping to retain as much of the resonator acoustic sound as possible when plugged in without having to add a mic. This device does the trick, I can raise the volume so it matches the other guitars and the acoustic resonance/reverb modelling helps it stay acoustic "swampy" sounding when plugged in. Early days I was dubious of Behringer products, but they continue to improve. This one has a solid build and I appreciate I can power it with either 9v batt or external ps. I also ran my electric mandolin thru it and that also sounds great.
