Earthquaker Does It Again

I've used this pedal daily for a couple of weeks now and I'm still finding new and interesting effects that I can use use both in the studio and on stage. A stellar addition to my pedalboard. Couldn't be happier!

Best Reverb and Delay for Cleans

I wanted a more "experimental" pedal, but also wanted basic effects, so I got this thing. I love it's ambient-style of reverb and delay, which is perfect for the clean tone effects that I've always wanted. I do not recommend this for any "gain" kind of tones, because it can start sounding a bit weird, but it is TOP-TIER for the clean tones, and it was so worth it because I got what I wanted it for.

A Remarkable Achievement From EarthQuaker Devices

The EarthQuaker Devices Avalanche Run v2 is one of the best delay/reverb pedals on the market. The sounds that come from this unit are quite simply outstanding. I have tried several different delay/reverb pedals (and own a few) in the past, but none of them are as versatile and pure sounding as the Avalanche Run. There are three different delay types via the toggle switch in the center of the pedal: reverse, standard delay and auto-swell. All three delay types sound amazing, but my favorites are the auto-swell and reverse. The reverb doesn't have many controls: two dedicated knobs, but, honestly, I don't use the reverb of this pedal (as great as it sounds). I alternate between the reverse and auto-swell settings frequently and I'm still finding new ways to use them. There's also an expression output for those that want to use a volume pedal (there is also a dedicated knob for different expression settings). There's also several secondary functions that I haven't actually used to looked into, but my point of mentioning them is that there's more to this pedal than meets the eye.

The Avalanche Run hasn't left my pedalboard since I bought it and I have no doubt that it won't be leaving your's either. Highly recommended!

Sonic masterpiece

This pedal provides a lot of delay options and its reverse delay sounds really impressive, all delay signals remain clear to the very very very very end. Of course, it all depends on the pedal chain too. I use three delay pedals: my guitar is plugged into an Empress Tape Delay which sends just one 1/3 delay tone to my Boss DD-500. The DD-500 is my delay workhorse: I have programmed all kinds of delays: multihead tape delays with a 100% wow and flutter, extensive echo delays with ping pong effect, entire rhythm patterns from Flamenco to Tango to just some ambient spheres, this pedal is gross, it is. The DD-500 goes into the Avalanche and this is when the new beauty starts for me. Sending a rhythm pattern to the Avalanche, setting it to its reverse mode, dialing the number of delays to almost infinite, adding just a subtle note of reverb, adjusting the dry/wet signal mix and suddenly each single note and chord get a sonic delay structure when the almost infinite repeat trails create some kind of "talking". This also varies by how I plug or strum the strings, playing in half-muted mode for example creates a kind of punchy sounding delay trails. I can create such stuff with my Peak synth, and this is a new territory for me by creating this through a guitar too. This gets to a point when I played the same six chords as single notes for thirty minutes or so, getting completely lost in these delay trails. I then also tried the decay/reverb mode but I guess that plugging in an expression pedal will bring this more to life. Anyway, this Avalanche is a great addition to my pedal chain. I was tempted to opt first for a guitar synth or some kind of LFO/waveform pedal, but actually prefer to create guitarish soundscapes instead of playing lush pads or a funky organ by strumming a guitar. It's just my personal preference here, that's it. So another thing is the Avalanche's reverb. This sounds fine to me and yes, it is working as a true stereo reverb. Even dialing in a subtle note of it enhances the sound in a very positive way. Cave-like hollow reverberation is actually not my thing, but, yes, if one wants this, the Avalanche reverb enables you to let your guitar sound as if performing in a tunnel or in some kind of prehistoric cave environment.

Super Accessible and Expansive

EarthQuaker Devices Avalanche Run V2 Delay and Reverb Pedal is a super fun and super accessible reverb and delay work horse. It provides a variety of different "always on" delay and reverb options, while also very easily getting way more technical and expansive. The reverb can get immensely cavernous. The delay can run a number of different patterns, has tap tempo functionality, and also has a reverse and swell mode which are super fun to play with. I have loved using this pedal in background/lead situations, letting it run with its mind-of-its-own capabilities. The Flexi-switching capabilities allowing you to run the repeats to infinity by holding down the tempo switch are super fun and completely manageable. You should buy this pedal.
