The BigSky Will Be Your New Go-to Reverb Pedal

The Strymon BigSky Multidimensional Reverb multi-effects pedal offers a wide assortment of reverb effects currently on the market. Twelve different types of reverb are available with a twist of a knob, and you can deeply edit the effects and store them in the 300 onboard preset slots. And an incredibly powerful SHARC DSP powers the pedal for the best sound quality possible. The Strymon BigSky is powerful enough to be the last reverb pedal you'll ever need.

Plenty of power for your 12 styles of reverb

The reverb effects onboard the BigSky cover everything from warm springs to the ethereal washes of Strymon's shimmer setting. You'll also find reverbs like hall, room, and swell that are shaped around the most popular reverb effects in history. The SHARC DSP engine ensures you will achieve the best sound quality possible from this unit. And Strymon added further editing options for these sounds, so you can create new textures and tones as you see fit. Store those sounds in the 300 presets, and you'll have instant access to a world of reverb effects.

Deep editing capabilities

The reverbs in the BigSky are far from just re-creations of vintage tones. While the sounds in the unit are based around many iconic 'verbs, Strymon added enough tone-shaping features to ensure you have full control over getting the sound you need for your application. The two parameter knobs on the front plate can be individually assigned to control various qualities per preset. And there's enough I/O on the back to run the BigSky in stereo, control it via MIDI, and even plug in an expression pedal for real-time parameter control.

Powerful I/O

If the sound quality of the BigSky Reverb were all it offered, that would be plenty. But there is much more under the hood of this powerful ambience device. Around back you'll find a wide array of inputs and outputs to integrate it flawlessly into your rig, no matter how involved it may be. A set of stereo ins and outs is easy to navigate. An expression pedal input allows you to control various parameters on the fly with an optional expression pedal. And the MIDI ports make instantly accessing your favorite sounds a breeze.

Strymon: a philosophy of quality

Strymon pedals are quickly becoming an industry standard in professional-quality effects. They're dedicated to offering exceptional customer service and, in their own words, making "gear that sounds better than anything you've ever heard." This California-based company uses only the highest-quality components and powerful processors in their pedals. And each design offers more tweakable parameters than meets the eye for fine-tuning your tone. This construction and sound quality is the reason Sweetwater is impressed with Strymon, and why you find their pedals on the pedalboards of professional musicians around the world.

Best reverb for any instrument!

The sounds you can generate through synths or guitar is breathtaking.

Stellar

Spendy but incredible. A shredder over in the UK named Rabea has a YouTube channel and did an extensive rundown on this pedal that pretty much sealed the deal for me, so if you're on the fence about it, maybe check that out. My main question was, if my amp already has a nice sounding reverb, and my delay pedal has a nice sounding reverb, how much reverb do I really need? The answer to that may be different for each player, but this one has so many tonal possibilities, I immediately started playing a chord progression I had never played before when I first started turning knobs on this thing and the inspiration from this pedal continues. My favorite knobs on the big sky are the predelay and tone because they allow me to sculpt the different reverb types into some extremely useful settings, like the shimmer type for instance. That reverb type has always kind of annoyed me and sounded cheesy to my ears, but I now use it quite often thanks to all the dials on the big sky.

Everything I want from a reverb pedal

The BigSky has stood the test of time and is still going strong. I've had mine for 4 years and I am still amazed by the sound and the functionality. My use is simple: I arrange my presets in banks of 3 (1 per button), each bank including; 1) a basic, low-mix verb, 2) a bigger, more ambient or lush verb and 3) an even bigger, more ambient/lush/over-the-top verb, and I can switch them on-the-fly. The sounds I use only scratch the surface of what it can do, but they also scratch every reverb itch I've ever had. If I could only have one pedal, the BigSky is my choice without hesitation (I have headstock tuners!). Numerous killer reverb pedals that boast more powerful processing and have some very interesting and amazing quality algorithms have been introduced since thee BigSky made its debut, but it is sill everything I want from a reverb pedal (and much, much more).

What Do Our In-house Gear Experts Think?

Jay Aden

I've been playing guitar for over 20 years, and when I stumbled upon a video of the Strymon BigSky I knew that was the reverb sound I had always been searching for but never quite found. Not only does the BigSky have tons of amazing features like 300 presets, but the reverb sounds are mind-blowing. I especially love the Cloud setting. It's perfect for everything from ambient worship swells to subtle pads underneath big chords. It has defintely changed the way I play and use reverb.

Zach Shepard

As a worship guitarist, I’ve used just about every reverb pedal on the market. The first time I used the Strymon BigSky I had to have it. The BigSky has become a core part of my tone. The Cloud engine is the stand out sound for me. It’s thick and lush without being overbearing. My guitar has never sounded this good. The BigSky will always be on my pedal board.
