Black Angel is my Fav Acoustic Pickup!

Thank you Mike Dawes!
Saw Mike's interview on Youtube and was looking for a passive acoustic pickup... Now all my Acoustics have a Black Angel... even the Maton on the far left now has one as well. I have KnK's inside plus a BA's in the sound hole and the combination works well for my pedal board... no more batteries and never any feedback!

DiMarzio Black Angel

I bought this Pickp as a second source to the peizio pickup already in my Takamine Guitar. I Bought a new Cool Tube 3 preamp from Sweetwater earlier, and was very pleased with the improvement from the original DSP Tak preamp (it was made in about 1998?) Anyway the Cooltube 3 was a positive improvement. I like my Tak, but always felt the sound to be on the Tin-ney side on the treble. This preamp helped a lot, but still was not quite there. The preamp has an input for a second pickup source. Tak sells a Tri-ax2 built by LR Baggs, but it was over $.

I read about this Dimarzio, found a review where another guy had the same setup - and he recommended this instead. He liked it better than the TRi-ax 2! So I tried it. It is very good, fills out or fattens the higher notes. I am pleased - I still do not have the total sound I hope for, but I am closer :)

To try to put numbers on it, I'd guess that the Preamp improved my guitar sound from 40% satisfaction to 70% satisfaction. The Dimarzio improvement was from 70% satisfaction to 85% - if that helps

I'm gonna try a different type of strings next. Maybe the best thing I can do to improve my sound is to learn to play the guitar better :)

Side note: I wish I could have found a small connecting cable - It comes with the Tri-ax2, but not the DiMarzio.(not surprisingly, the TriAx was set up specifically for the Takamine) I needed a very short RCA Male to 1/8" Male. I had to make one, and it works, but I do worry about any noise from a homemade connection etc...

Great Pickup!

DiMarzio pickups have a classic sound. The Black Angel sounds great in a Martin, a Gibson, or a Taylor. I think it would complement any acoustic guitar. Highly recommended!

Amazing

CJ helped me pick out the Black Angel and it is perfect. It retains the warmth of my acoustic guitar and the tone is fantastic. I am really stoked with this item! Thanks, CJ!
