An Amazing Combination of Heftiness and Softness

A hybrid between brushes and drumsticks, Promark Broomsticks give you more volume than brushes, but with less attack than sticks. Made from actual broomcorn, Broomsticks feature adjustable O-rings that let you change the spread of the bristles for a softer or stiffer response. Make no mistake, these highly distinctive sticks provide you with a natural feel and warmth of tone unlike anything else. Neither brushes, nor sticks, nor mallets will give you the same combination of heftiness and supple texture as Promark Broomstick brush/drumstick hybrids. Here's a Sweetwater tip: try these on a cajon!

Pro Mark broomsticks.

These things seem very well built. I'm not used that much yet, but more to come.

Love these, but wished lasted longer

These are great. I prefer the "small" size, but the mediums are good too. The mediums have more presence in the hand than the smalls, and playing faster is a little more labored. Sound is a little more full as well, which isn't always desirable, but having both give good tonal options. I disagree with promark's description of them being louder than brushes. They're not. They're softer, having a more mellow attack, and when fanned out, you can sweep with them. I use them on a drum set, so maybe your application is different. My one gripe is that they don't last very long, and they shed/fracture like crazy. I tend to overplay them, so shame on me, but even with light use, they don't last. After they start to splinter and break, the adjustable bands can be hard to roll down, not catching all fibers, so they can be frustrating to adjust when their life is coming to an end. All in all though, I still give them 5 stars. There's nothing else like them.

great dynamic sound

Really digging the new sound this brings to my cajon kit. I have used other poly and wire brushes, but these are different again from those. With less mass than similarly designed large poly ones, they definitely have a "smaller" sound to them, especially on cymbals. Super light and comfortable in the hand, and nice adjustability of the sound with the o rings. I am a bit concerned about long term durability, as some of the corn is pretty thin and wispy, but so far with only a few hours use they seem to be standing up OK.

Good For Cajon

These brushes solve a couple problems I've had with plastic brushes. The first of which is the tendency for plastic cajon brushes to bend. The second is the sound of plastic hitting plywood which I personally don't like.

In my hour-long trial, these Broomsticks have so far maintained their rigidity, and the broom corn just sounds right on a plywood surface. What are some other descriptive terms I might use: organic, natural, fitting. The rubber rings allow one to adjust the sound from soft to tight.
Music background: I've been a musician since 14, and currently play drums, percussion, harmonica, rhythm guitar, and bass guitar at 2-4 restaurant gigs every weekend.

Brushes are too light

I recently purchases a pair of Promark Broomsticks-Medium to use playing my cajon. These brushes produce a very soft light sound no matter how hard you hit the drum. Moving the plastic rings down to widen the brush does little to help. If the plastic rings are moved close to the center or end of the brush you get a louder slap sound because the plastic is hitting the drum and not so much the brush. Basically the brushes are way too light. If you like playing a ride cymbal with your cajon these brushes are pretty much useless on the cymbal. On a closed hi-hat... maybe.
Music background: Over 50 years playing hand drums, percussion, all styles.
