Re-creates Classic CE-1 and CE-2 Modulation Effects

The CE-1 Chorus Ensemble was the first BOSS pedal, and its spacious modulated effects are still coveted by guitarists four decades later. The BOSS CE-2W Chorus Waza Craft Special Edition pedal re-creates the classic sound of the CE-1 (and its successor, the CE-2) using premium all-analog circuitry. Switch between the standard CE-2 sound, as well as CE-1 chorus and vibrato effects, with the flip of a switch. The CE-2W exceeds the capabilities of the original pedals, with stereo output for the CE-2 effects and variable depth for the CE-1 chorus sounds. Add expansive effects to your pedalboard with the BOSS CE-2W Chorus Waza Craft Special Edition pedal!

Waza Craft: a higher art of stompbox design

The Japanese word "waza" means art and technique, an appropriate name for BOSS's premium line of redesigned guitar effects pedals. You see, the pedal collectors here at Sweetwater have seen more than enough special-edition stompboxes that are only a paint job away from the originals, which is why we're so blown away by what BOSS has done with the Waza Craft series. Even in their Standard modes, Waza Craft pedals sound like idealized versions of the originals, offering the same sonic character that made them iconic, but with less noise and more consistent tone. And when you A/B the standard mode and the custom mode, the contrast is nothing short of astonishing.

BOSS CE-2W Chorus Waza Craft Special Edition Pedal Features at a Glance:
  • Re-creates the classic modulated effects of the BOSS CE-1 and CE-2 pedals
  • Standard mode reproduces the classic CE-2 chorus effect
  • CE-1 mode replicates the vintage pedal's chorus and vibrato effects
  • Exceeds the capabilities of the original pedals with CE-2 stereo output and CE-1 variable depth
  • Rate and Depth controls allow for precise effect adjustment
  • Analog bucket brigade (BBD) technology yields premium vintage modulation effects
Re-create classic modulation effects with the BOSS CE-2W Chorus Waza Craft Special Edition pedal!

Completes my Boss board

I have been getting back into my Boss pedals after getting a DD-8 and RV-6 recently. I currently play through a stereo rig consisting of a AC-15 and a tweed Blues Jr. I play ambient and pop/rock. I had a CH-1 for many years that I never bonded with and I wanted to replace it. I have owned many choruses and was having trouble deciding between the DC-2w and CE-2w. I am more of a set it and forget it player and after reading of volume issues with CE-2w I went with the DC-2w. After a year with the DC-2w, I decided to give the CE-2w a try and am blown away, it is heaven in a stompbox. Maybe it is my stereo rig, but the volume increase some players have reported seems part of the way the CE-2w processes the signal, making the chorus effect jump out. I am still getting in to it, but it's a keeper. I hope this helps people decide... get the CE-2w if you like classic liquid chorus. The DC-2w is good too, but I found it limited in my use and not as warm. Just a shout out, the DS-1 on my board has the seeing eye mod by Keeley. It makes the DS-1 much smoother, check it out. One more shout out, I got into my Boss pedals again by watching vids by Perry Frank. He stacks the DD-8 and RV-6. Even if you find ambient boring, you will probably get something from the different effects he stacks.

Awesome pedal and saves the hassle of me lugging around a second amp Roland JC

So I have a old Roland JC, and know the CE-1 setting well. It's not my main amp though, but love that sound. I rock a Fender type style Botique brand amp. It was either lug two amps around, and more mics. Or…

Grab this pedal and run it in Mono on one amp, for that classic sound! You could also run a second amp as it's stereo as well. But it for the thing it's suppose to very well! The quality seems a lot better than the base series and that shows. The CE-1 first setting is the classic more subtle one most use to add a bit of Chorus. The CE-2 middle introduces some extra high end to the mix. That's the real 80s pop type sound there. The last options gets you a cool vibrato type sound.

But this helped a lot, so I could get that sound in a practice room and not have too much busy stuff going on. It's not a cheap pedal by any means. But it's pretty much a Roland JC sound, and when I want that sound the amp or tgis pedal is all that will do. And I'm not spending money on a real CE-1. If you are reading this and considering this pedal, you know what it does.

Also I found it played great with my Morning Glory pedal. I'm ashame to say I don't use that pedal much, and usually a Microamp with my amp on break up, then medium to high gain. But this pedal is the jam when you push a Blues Breaker or subtle overdrive into it.

ce2w

i really wanted to wait with the review..so i bought this pedal like 3months ago now.. im not sure if it is me.. but the S mode.. i. e. ce2..is somewhat underwhelming... very subtle.. i mean.. it is ok.. but i ended up using the ce1 all the time.. not motivated much to switch to the ce2 at all.. the vibe is good.. that is if u like to use it.. i bought it for the chorus and ce1 is really great so i guess it was a good phrchase. also i have thr dunlop univibe with chorus.. the hendrix version from some 5-6years ago.. and it is so much more solid.. but that is subjective.. happy to have both. the only thing that annoys me is the confusing marking of S-CE-1..i mean.. wtf?!!?

better than the original.

Quieter, clearer, still sounds unmistakably analog. This is one chorus you can use either before or after dirt and it still sounds great. Less noise than the original. CE-1 mode is a nice option, but prefer the original CE-2 mode.

Awesome Chorus Pedal

I purchased this pedal after reading and watching many reviews and comparisons. The BOSS brand to me represents a quality product at a very reasonable price. The options and range of this unit is unbelievable. Because of those reasons, I went with this chorus pedal. The options to literally switch between versions of the pedals makes this unit a very versatile unit. The range of control is probably more than most people could ever need.

This unit runs off a 9V battery, but can also run off an optional AC power adapter or daisy chained off another 9V pedal if you have the cords to do so. I highly recommend this unit to anyone looking for adding a great and unique sound to their guitar. Boss also makes it extremely easy to register your item for ownership and warranty information on their website.

I would also like to add that I highly recommend Sweetwater for your music related items. They have everything you could imagine and more. They have a great professional sales staff, and in my experiences with Max, my sales rep, he has been great at giving me advise on the equipment and on answering questions. His knowledge is very impressive on everything I have asked about. The best part about Max and Sweetwater, is their sales reps do not try to sell you something, they are truly there to answer your questions and help you. I am getting back into guitars after a 30 year hiatus. I felt extremely uncomfortable when I went into a local guitar store as I felt they were trying to push things onto me that I did not want. That does not happen with Sweetwater.
