Boss Chorus CE-5

I have purchased way to many pedals in my day but learned that purchasing Boss won't be a mistake. Wish I knew this earlier and for the majority of my pedal board I am using Boss since it works so well as described. Be sure to use a good 9 volt dc input or a new 9-volt battery for the best output. I have a Boss RC-3 Loop and if you don't use a good power in or a newer 9-Volt battery, the output is weak. Just a note from experience. The Boss Chorus and most of the Boss pedals are a great addition to any pedal board. Wish I didn't have to learn that the expensive way, buying pedals that just don't measure up.

Best Chorus pedal ever

I was using an EHX neo chorus on my board. It sounds okay and it's one knob operation was simple to use.

The problem was that even at the lowest setting, it was too much.

I used CE1 Super Chorus in the past and really liked it.

But the CE5 is simply superb. It's range of settings makes it so versatile for the 60s to 90s rock my band plays.

What I love about the CE5 is that at very low settings, I just leave it on. No warbles or swooshes - just a lovely sweetening that sounds perfect for clean or dirty tones.

If I need a more pronounced effect, a quick twist of the level control gets me there. Then back to the always-on setting.

It's the best chorus I've ever used - Boss does chorus right!

Just can't beat it clean or high gain.

I now own two CE5's (digital versions)...one for my studio rig, the other for my live pedal board. Why? Because they sound amazing in stereo. The CE5 stereo field effect created by one wet, and one dry channel mixed with a stereo delay is just the best. Set the effect level at about 75 to 80%, the depth at about 60%, mod rate at about 40%, high/ low filter to taste, and you have the perfect always on stereo effect...just sounds great, not overpowering, or warbly. Thickens and adds spatial stereo width...superior with high gain compared to any other pedals i have tried...Boss MD-500 (although this pedal has a great stereo chorus and dimension effect...but that's another story), Eventide Modfactor, MXR analog chorus, TC Electronic Dreamscape, Boss CH-1, etc...Just get it.

Best of Boss

I tried three Boss Chorus pedals: Super Chorus, Waza Craft, and the Chorus Ensemble. I sent the first two packing! The Chorus Ensemble is just better all around. It's sound is crisp and clear and it sounds the best with distortion. Don't get me wrong, the CE2 Waza and Super Chorus are good. Just didn't do it for me. The Super Chorus was a bit too dark and muddled for my taste. The Waza Craft is an excellent Chorus pedal, but I chose the Ensemble for its use with distortion. I also like the fact that I can control the overall volume of the effect with the Ensemble. Being able to manipulate the low and high frequencies is a plus as well.

Chorus pedal for bass.

I use this stompbox for bass rather than guitar. Nothing too crazy. But the low and high pass filters really help polish your tone.
