SCF without searching the globe

I've been using tc gear since the mid-late '80s and it's always top notch. Extremely quiet and the effects aren't overdone. I have the black chassis limited edition run of this pedal and it smokes pretty much everything else I've demo'd. The closest I found to it was an Eventide H9 I demo'd some years back and while the H9 has a great chorus sound, dialing it in is a pain in the neck due to the H9's interface. With the Corona series, I have one effect to dial in … and 4 basic knobs with which to do it.

I have several SCF reissues and they're all Very Good … maybe even superior. This mini chassis stomp is more convenient though. It DOES eat 9V batteries like Skittles but that's a small price to pay for what you get in this pedal. While it's not on par with my rackmount tc 1210, it doesn't come with a 4-digit price tag either.

Not only best stomp chorus for the money, best stomp chorus you'll find period.

Boutique Schmoutique

I'm not a rich man, but the last few years have been very fortunate for me, leaving me with the ability to buy basically any pedals I want - price is not an issue. So why is a TC Corona sitting on my board amongst other pedals that cost 2 to 3 times as much?
Beacause it's that good - really.
I didn't start with the TC. I went straight for the $$$ boutique stuff. Something about their tone was always irritating to me. Many choruses have a harsh, boxy character to them that just doesn't sit well with my style of playing & can't be dialed out with their limited controls. There many reviewers here that say things like "I don't like Chorus, but I like the TC Corona" or "This is a Chorus for people who don't like Chorus". Now I know what they mean.
The Corona has a very smooth, semi-lush character that is exceptionally musical & pleasing to the ear. It has NONE of the unpleasant artifacts usually associated with Chorus effects. The Tri-Chorus and Toneprint options are really good but I prefer just the standard Chorus (1st position) setting. The Leevel & Tone knobs allow me to nail exactly the flavor I need. I've found myself leaving it on, with subtle settings, at times where I wouldn't usually use chorus at all. It just adds such a nice texture & fullness to my tone.
Like many people, my first TC pedal was the Flashback Delay (which is still on my gigging board). In the Flashback Toneprint menu otions is a Chorus that sounds better than any boutiqe Chorus pedal I've ever tried (And this was a FREE download on a DELAY Pedal!). That's what drew me to the Corona (now on my studio board). I have become genuinely impressed with TC Electronics and their ability to produce professional-grade equipment at such reasonable prices. If you are a boutique snob (like me), come off your high horse & check out what TC is doing these days. If you are a novice and/or on a budget, the Corona is a no-brainer. This is first-rate, studio-quality gear.

It’s Pretty Good...

Well, I liked my Flashback II delay quite a lot, so I decided to add modulation to it. Frankly I think this is just an average chorus pedal by today's standards, and my old Boss CE-20 is actually better, but it's a good compliment to the Flashback, so I'll keep playing with it and try to get the TonePrint thingy hooked up. I had hoped that the tri-chorus would be exceptional, but .... If I change my mind, I'll update.
