Sounds Like Steel, Feels Like Nickel

The first time we slapped a set of DR Pure Blues Quantum-nickel strings on a bass here at Sweetwater, we couldn't get over their phenomenal sound and feel. Not only did these handmade strings feel like they were made out of velvet, they delivered a fat, warm punch that, although it had a bit of edge to it, avoided any trace of harshness. It doesn't matter if you play with a pick or with your fingers, use passive or active pickups, or like to slap and pop - these strings sound amazing! Hand-wound on round cores for increased flexibility, DR Pure Blues Quantum-nickel bass strings will drench your playing in the expressive top end, sleek, scooped upper mids, and firm, round bottom you've been craving.

Classic and Clean

I love these strings, they're powerful enough for the thump you need, but articulate enough for tapping.

Quality

Been playing on these strings for about two weeks now, and I really love them. The reason I got them was because these are the strings that Victor Wooten uses, and I see why. They're bright and articulate, but also deep and smooth. Highly recommend if you play multiple genres.

Real magic

I don't know what magic is in these strings but I will never use anything else. I've tried many different brands of string but these right here... these are special. Many brands advertise brightness and longevity and massive sustain. These have all that in spades, but they also have some mojo that every other brand doesnt have at all. They're bright without that searing high end zing you get from steel strings, but they also don't sound dead on arrival like a lot of nickel. They're the brightest nickel strings on the market and they last for AGES. I don't know how they do it and frankly I don't really care. I just hope they keep doing it.

Pure Blues is Pure Greatness!

I first tried these out on my "practice bass" (Ibanez TMB100) and they are a wonderful improvement! If they sound that good on a cheap bass, I am imagining how they will sound on my show basses. Love that bluesy type sound that is clear and crisp! This is the first set of DR strings have installed and I am sold on them! You cannot beat the "Handmade" quality! Planning using DR strings on my other basses! Now which ones to pick?!

Sing on a J-Bass!

These strings just really do it all. Especially on a J-Bass they bring a boost of extra mids, which really rounds out the sound. So you can mute and have a nice thick old school tone, or kick in that scooped EQ and funk out. I also regularly go past the 12th fret and the highs are extremely well-rounded and musical. I didn't even touch my EQ the first weeks of owning these, since all the tone I needed was there. They also age very well, so you can bump the tone or high-mids as the strings age and still have a bright slap sound if you want. You won't have to chuck these after two weeks if you like bright tones. For me they have the ideal tone and flexibility to play all kinds of styles.
My only very slight annoyance is that they gripped my picks more than other strings fresh out the pack. It feels a little weird, but it fades quickly and didn't really affect my playing.
