Marshall's Legendary DSL Is Back in Action

The Marshall DSL1HR tube amplifier head packs burly Marshall tone into one of the most compact packages yet. With two channels, reverb, and an effects loop, the DSL1HR is ready to rock. And with its adjustable power level, you can dial in cranked-amp tube tones that won't wake your neighbors — or even use the Softube speaker-emulated output for direct recording and monitoring. Marshall even refined the EQ section for extremely versatile tone shaping. From glassy cleans to bone-rattling crunch to blistering high gain, your wish is the Marshall DSL1HR's command.

A 1-watt tone beast

Marshall's DSL1HR is an all-tube, twin-channel tone machine capable of conjuring massive sound. Two ECC83s in the preamp section (in concert with the amp's gain/master volume arrangement) give you stunning tone-shaping mojo, and with an ECC82 in the power amplifier, you've got power that's ideal for everything from the studio to the bedroom.

The DSL series — a revered tonal heritage

The Marshall DSL1HR hails from a revered lineage. Marshall introduced the JCM2000 Dual Super Lead (DSL) series amps in 1997. Right from the get-go, these all-tube monsters enjoyed enthusiastic approval by guitarists and the press alike, forming the backlines of top acts in all musical genres and bludgeoning audiences worldwide for a decade before being replaced by Marshall's JVM series (a musical powerhouse in its own right). Considered the go-to rock amp by many tone-savvy guitarists, there is considerable pent-up demand for Dual Super Leads. And thus, Marshall is proud to introduce the new-and-improved DSL series.

Softube speaker-emulated output

Marshall has teamed up with software mavens Softube to create exceptional tones in their CODE series of amplifiers, and they've joined forces again on the DSL1HR. Its line output features an accurate emulation of Marshall's iconic 1960 speaker cabinet, allowing you to plug directly into a recording chain with confidence. Guitarists at Sweetwater love flexible recording options, and the DSL1HR delivers.

Marshall DSL1HR Tube Amp Head Features:

  • Capable of conjuring any classic Marshall sound — past or present
  • 2 channels — Classic Gain and Ultra Gain
  • High and low power modes allow you to dial in appropriate volume for any setting
  • Line output with Softube's accurate emulation of a Marshall 1960 cab
  • Refined EQ section gives you incredible tonal flexibility
  • Studio-grade digital reverb
  • Rear-panel series effects loop

Great Marshall tone for home use levels!

This amp is perfect for home use without driving the family nuts. Make no mistake it can get really loud if you want. I prefer the 1 watt but you can drop it to 1/2 watt to keep volume down without sacrificing tone. I took two Marshall mini stack speakers cabs (slant/straight) and added two 8ohm celestion G10 vintage 60 watt speakers in series to achieve the 16ohm output from the amp. Created an awesome tubed mini stack. Very happy with my guy Chris K. from Sweetwater. Great amount of knowledge to help achieve your vision.

What a Dream! DSL1 with a 4x12

What a dream!!! I am not going to spend too much of your time, because I believe you already what you can expect coming out of a Marshall bundle like that, a Marshall head and a 4x12 Marshall cab. The cabinet is a MX412AR 240-watt 4x12" Angled Extension, which "is the perfect complement to your DSL100HR head. This angled 4 x 12" extension cabinet is loaded with a quartet of Celestion G12E-60 speakers"...

What A Dream!!!

I have to learn how to manage that beast now, eventhough it is a 1 Watt type of amp, but I already felt that is loud enough for a home user/apartment user like myself. But I'll enjoy that badboy as much as I can now!!!

Thank you Sweetwater, Mr Spencer Pyles and the whole crew for the second to none support that they are always ready to provide!!! It's been a pleasure to do business with you guys!!

Thanks!!

Perfect Marshall Tone that's house friendly!

More than sufficient wattage for any home from small to large with no tone sacrifice.
Sweetwater customer service ( my sales agent is Jacob L) is the best. Not going to buy new gear anywhere else! They really take care of their customers no matter what!

Holy Grail Bedroom and Studio

I'm a fairly experienced guitar player who has 2 kids, dog and a wife. They hate my Orange half stack. Big time. I messed with it through my orange combo pictured below and that was dope. Anyway, I built a 1x12 guitar cab to use as a "mini amp head" platform. I think you need to know what your intentions are before buying any amp. This one is giggable if you must. However, this bad boy is a dream for bedroom & studio rock. The effects loop is a big plus. It rocks surprisingly loud for 1 watt too. I plugged it into my 4x12 cab and pissed off my whole house in no time!

I can't tell you how nice it is to be able to crank a Marshall head without the family complaining or my ears spraying blood.

Figure out what your intentions are and buy this beast. Or get the 20 watt if you need best of both gig and studio worlds.

Perfect bedroom amp!

Using a 1x12 cab with a celestion A speaker. What a perfect bedroom amp. Clean channel is very bright and not great for pedal use but the overdrive channel is your classic marshall saturated gain. Dial in those perfect rock tones from acdc etc. Great amp!

There are countless "British"-style guitar amplifiers out there, but take it from the lifelong guitarists and tone connoisseurs at Sweetwater, when it comes to Marshall tone, there's nothing like the real thing. We've played them all, from vintage JTM45s and the ultra-cool Plexi reissue to modern handmade masterpieces such as the JVM410. There isn't a model among them we can't recommend with total confidence, and that includes their more affordable models too, like MG, DSL, and Code series amps. Thanks to our tight relationship with Marshall, Sweetwater's always on the cutting edge of their latest designs, custom models, and limited-edition gems. If you want iconic tone from across the pond, you want Marshall, and your Sweetwater Sales Engineer will help you find the perfect one.
