Powered by Yamaha's Next-level DTX-PRO Drum Module

With its DTX-PRO drum module and tri-zone snare and cymbal pads, the Yamaha DTX6K3-X packs massive expression at a mid-level price point. Choose from 40 preset studio-sampled drum kits, or create up to 200 custom kits using the DTX6K3-X's 400 onboard assignable sounds. Further tone modification is possible in seconds flat using the DTX-PRO's Kit Modifier section — dial in room ambience, compression, and special effects with the twist of a few knobs. In concert with its durable Yamaha hardware and wrist-saving TCS tom pads, the DTX6K3-X has all the ingredients you're looking for in a Yamaha kit: high-quality sound, ease of use, and responsive performance. You'll even find training tools and a record function right inside to better you as a performer. No band in sight? Pull up the DTX-PRO's 37 onboard play-along tracks and jam the night away.

DTX-PRO Module

40 studio-captured preset kits

Yamaha's DTX-PRO drum module sets you up with 40 complete drum kits, captured with all the punch, definition, and realism of a world-class studio environment.

200 custom user kits

Advanced users can use the DTX-PRO's 400 assignable voices to create custom kits for stage and studio. Want to blend electronic kick and snare with world percussion and acoustic cymbals? The DTX-PRO is your ticket to one-of-a-kind hybrid kits.

One-knob Kit Modifiers

The DTX-PRO's Kit Modifier section packs some extraordinary utility into just three knobs. You don't have to be a tone geek or electronics wizard to dial in custom sounds on this module. Just spin, set, and save.

  • Ambience: This dial adjusts how "wet," or roomy, drums and cymbals sound in your virtual environment.
  • Compression: Drums really come alive with a shot of compression. This single Comp knob eliminates the need to worry about ratios, thresholds, and knees — just twist until it sounds good.
  • Effect: This control delivers a diverse range of expression with the twist of a knob.

Loaded with training tools

Whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting out, the DTX6K3-X's DTX-PRO module packs the tools to make you a better drummer. You get a sophisticated programmable metronome to rein in tricky fills, 37 training songs to workshop grooves and pocket, and 10 onboard training functions for sharpening your chops. There's even a record function, so you can capture ideas and monitor your progress as you move along.

DTX6K3-X Pads and Stand

Expressive 3-zone TCS snare pad

The snare is the centerpiece of any drum kit, electronic or otherwise. At Sweetwater, we are happy to report that the Yamaha DTX6K3-X cuts no corners in this department. Its included XP80 pad gives you three separate zones for head strikes, rimshots, and cross-sticks. The Textured Cellular Silicone (TCS) playing surface is designed to feel like a real coated drumhead — only it's soft and easy on the joints, which is important when you're playing night after night. The XP80 snare is paired with a trio of single-zone TCS tom pads and Yamaha's KP90 kick tower for impressive expression across the kit.

Chokeable 3-zone cymbals

Equally impressive are the DTX6K3-X's included 3-zone PCY135 ride and crash cymbals. These PCY135s give you distinct edge/bow/bell zones to deliver lifelike cymbal response. For instance, you can choke the PCY135 after a crash by grabbing it anywhere on the edge of the pad. You can even mute a cymbal before striking it to create unique sonic textures. This creates an extra level of realism you don't get with many electronic drum kits.

Kick pedal not included

Yamaha RS6 rack system

A solid kit requires a solid foundation. And that's why the Yamaha DTX6K3-X includes the RS6 rack stand for effortless setups and unflappable security. A right-hand-only wrap bar positions your second crash and module for maximum ergonomics. On the left-hand side, a void supplies plenty of open space for hi-hats, double pedals, and more.

Yamaha HS-650A hi-hat stand included

Yamaha is renowned for its trap set hardware. The DTX6K3-X includes Yamaha's lightweight, chain-drive HS-650A for a classic response underfoot. Just add a kick pedal and throne, and the Yamaha DTX6K3-X is ready to rock.

Great kit

Works very well, glad I picked it up.
It will take a few more days to have the drum system ready to perform live. Cymbals and DTX pads are the very best. I enjoy also performing live with the DD-75 Yamaha digital drum kit as well. I really like the new kit more like a acoustic drum kit.

Happy I bought this drum set

I was so surprised at how good the pads feel versus the rubber pads from my dtxpress iii set. The RHH135 hi hat is a game changer. You feel like you are playing a quality drum set and not some toy. I just started playing it tonight. I actually am using my old dtxpress II rack. One day I'll use the new rack lol. Great training songs. Easy to navigate on the module without getting frustrated . Make sure you splurge for nice headphones

Very Happy.

Beginner drummer here. I set this up on a 4'x 6' outdoor carpeted entry mat in my garage along with a Ludwig Speed Flyer pedal, Pearl throne and Ahead Lars Ulrich SG sticks. Very happy so far. The TCS pads feel great and at 45 years old I can easily play comfortably for a few hours with no wrist/shoulder gripes. The 3 zone cymbals are responsive and work great. Plenty of adjustability in the rack and the ball and socket snare mount is awesome. The kick tower with the Ludwig pedal is rock solid, zero movement. As a newb I've only begun to scratch the surface of the features in the DTX module but so far I really like it. On-the-fly ambience/compression/effects adjustment with knobs is fantastic, no having to fumble through buttons or a menu. The Yamaha Rec'N'Share app is glitchy like the app store reviews state but works well enough for my needs right now (and it's free).

A few gripes:

1. At this price point I wish it came with a 10" snare. The 8" surface is small and the comparable Roland sets come with a
10" or 12" snare. Not a show stopper though.

2. I've found the hi-hat open/close responsiveness to be tricky. It all feels mushy and imprecise and I've tried every
measure of adjustment but I cannot find the right spot to get it dialed-in. As a beginner I don't know if this is
indicative of most electronic hi-hats or if this is specific to this Yamaha trigger and tower set up. Again not a
show stopper and this might be a problem caused by my lack of playing experience.

3. I'm running Windows 10 on my laptop and the Yamaha DTX driver fails to install. I haven't had time to troubleshoot,
it's probably something simple.

Overall very happy with this set and I think it is going to fulfill my needs for years to come. Highly recommended for someone at my experience level.

Yamaha is the best

I researched electric drums for awhile before making a decision, I am so glad that I decided on the k3.I have only had the kit for a short time ,but I still am amazed at the sounds, it's like you are the drummer in the concert,I don't know how it does it but it puts you right in seat behind the drums. The drums sounds are absolutely amazing,it's like playing the best sounding drums that you have ever heard, it's that great.I love them,I am so glad I went with the k3, and you will too.

Great Kit for my needs

I replaced a DTX450K that I loved with this kit. It was a huge step up in every way. The small snare and toms didn't bother me as I was already used to that on the 450K. It is a larger kit because of the hi-hat stand, ect but still fits in a small area. I bought it without having one locally I could try based on how much I loved my 450K and how much I hated the Alesis Strike Pro SE I demoed. This kit will last me for a very long time. I'm not a huge fan of the preprogrammed kits, I think that honestly some on the 450K were better. I built 10 decent kits from the onboard library of the DTX Pro module and these are doing okay until I start downloading my own into the unit. Very happy with this purchase.
