Yamaha's Next-generation 15" DXS Sub

Featuring an upgraded electronics section that delivers more power and low-frequency extension, the Yamaha DXS15mkII 15" active subwoofer is even more formidable than its predecessor. The DXS15mkII combines a super-efficient 800-watt Class D amplifier with a rugged, highly efficient bandpass cabinet that assists the DXS15mkII in achieving a remarkable 135dB SPL rating. Low-frequency response has also been extended down to 40Hz. The DXS15mkII features Yamaha's D-XSUB DSP processing, which provides higher output and improved frequency response in a compact, lightweight enclosure that's ideal for smaller stages. With higher maximum SPL, extended low-frequency range, and the clarity and punch you've come to expect from the DXS Series, the Yamaha DXS12MKII gives your sound the professional edge.

High-power Class D amplifier

The Yamaha DXS15mkII employs an 800-watt (continuous) Class D amplifier to serve up rich, solid bass reinforcement. The ample wattage doesn't just let the DXS15mkII get loud, it gives it the headroom needed to reproduce the dynamics and nuances of your music. And because the amplifier doesn't require active cooling, you can run the DXS15mkII at high volume levels for extended periods without distortion or thermal shutdown.

Stellar sound quality

Yamaha used a lot of innovative technology to get the maximum sonic quality out of the DXS15mkII powered subwoofer. For example, Yamaha's proprietary D-XSUB processing lets you extend the frequency response of the DXS15mkII for when you really need maximum bass impact, incredibly useful in larger rooms. Also, the acoustically-optimized wooden enclosure is designed to resist distortion at high output levels, greatly enhancing sound quality even at extreme levels.

Easy to integrate

It's easy to add the DXS15mkII powered subwoofer to your DRX loudspeaker system, or any other powered system for that matter. Dual XLR inputs let you connect to your mixer, crossover system, or main speaker throughputs, and parallel XLR outputs make it easy to add additional DXS subwoofers for even more ground-shaking bass reinforcement. On previous models, these outputs passed full-range audio from the inputs to any connected speakers. On the DXS15mkII, the outputs have a switchable highpass filter, so all the crossover work is done within the subwoofer. With the filter engaged, connected full-range powered speakers can use their full output power to amplify only those frequencies that the DXS15mkII is not. This configuration delivers better overall projection and a more detailed soundstage across the full frequency spectrum.

Ideal for gigging musicians, school sound systems, and houses of worship

You'll be amazed at the rock-solid bass and consistent performance you get from Yamaha's DXS15mkII powered sub. Housed in a durable wooden enclosure, the DXS15mkII subwoofer represents Yamaha's latest sound reinforcement technology. The DXS15mkII packs maximum performance into an efficient design that's perfect for the gigging musician, school sound systems, and houses of worship. And thanks to the proprietary DSP processing, the DXS15mkII delivers the kind incredibly deep bass you'd expect from a much larger unit. Take it from Sweetwater: Whether you're playing pre-recorded music or performing for a crowd, you'll love the rich low end the Yamaha DXS15mkII powered subwoofer adds to your sound system.

yeah. it's really nice.

I bought one this summer to see if I liked it, I put it through it's paces and it didn't disappoint... I own a wedding DJ service and Just one adds excellent bass to the dance floor area . I am getting another on this spring to really bring the boom to the party. Tough construction, looks great & lightweight very easy to lift. Highly recommend !!!

Best in its class

I have owned this Yamaha sub for a little over a year. I have compared it to the QSC KW181 , QSC KW212c, EV ETX 18SP, and the JBL EON 718, all popular units. All of those, except the KW212c (dual 12"), are 18" subs (Keep in mind the Yamaha is a 15" sub). The DSX is louder than all of them, and to my ear, cleaner and crisper sounding as well. The cardioid feature is also very useful if you'll be using more than one sub, a feature many other subs don't have. I just did an acapella festival, and during a beatbox battle, the DXS (only 1) had the entire 300 person auditorium bumpin'! Needless to say, this is a deeply impressive sub, especially for the price. It's also light enough to be lifted by one person, though the caster wheels are a must for anything more than a quick lift. Yamaha doesn't give their products a 7 year warranty for nothing, and I look forward to many more years with it!

Loud and clean subwoofer!

Sounds great, loud, great quality, not that heavy when transporting compared to other subs, and affordable. Thank you Delvin of Sweetwater!

These are outstanding and priced right!

I am a Yamaha loyal and have 4 of these subs. For the price, quality, and sound specs these are hard to beat. I contemplated going with larger higher wattage subs but these perform just as good or better if you look at the specs. I use these full time at a 300 person church auditorium and as needed for gigs. I am usually told to much bass but always a wow factor at the clear sound and volume these put out for their size and I have yet to peak them (volume is set 60% on rear controls). Before subs the church sound would get muddy pushing everything in overhead monitors. Adding the subs combined with equalizer/HF adjustments the lows for drums, bass guitars, guitars, piano, organ, and tracks are pushed strong and clear relieving the overheads. My personal PA system for gigs consists of 4 house and 4 floor monitors and these subs easily keep up. I love clean lows in live music, other times I like to thump and these subs will do just that. Thanks to Ed Needler@Sweetwater.

Great sub at a great price

I bought one of these to pair with 2 of the Yamaha powered 12" speakers. We're a full band (3 vox, 2 guitars, bass, and drums) and don't often need PA of our own so one of these is fine for us. As some of suggested already, these subs and speakers need music run through them for about an hour before they start to loosen up and really sound great. This is true of most speakers. We ran a bunch of different styles of music through it during our setup and once loose, the sub definitely throws down and not a hint of heat from the amp. Big, round bass and not too woofy. The weight is just right for one person to load a short distance (say, to put on a cart or from the ground to the car) but it also has caster bolts pre-installed for you to add your own casters which we will be doing in short order. All in all, this sub definitely performs for us. I expect nothing but stellar performance from it in the future when we actually put it through a show's worth of material.
