Version 3 of the Studio-grade Compressor in Guitar Pedal Form

Revamped with input from users and artists everywhere, version 3 of the popular Walrus Audio Deep Six now features a Tone control (bass cut) to keep your signal squeaky clean through all states of compression — from funk scratching to total obliteration. The Deep Six V3 is a studio-grade compressor in a convenient pedal form factor, inspired by the performance of a classic FET leveling amplifier and the simplicity of much-loved vintage compression stompboxes. Fitted with Level, Sustain, Attack, Tone, and Blend knobs, the Deep Six V3 offers tremendous versatility for any incoming pickup signal: active, passive, humbucking, or single-coil. Updated artwork from designer Adam Forster gives version 3 of the Deep Six added visual punch.

Ready for all your electric guitars

The Deep Six’s Attack control lets you optimize compression for either low- or high-output instruments, while its Blend knob is perfect for mixing in a portion of the uncompressed signal for a more natural sound. Polarity never becomes an issue, thanks to its onboard polarity correction circuit. And for maximum headroom and battery life, internal voltage is doubled to 18 volts while maintaining a typical 8.9mA current draw. Guitarists at Sweetwater have put Walrus Audio’s Deep Six V3 to the test and the verdict is: we love it! And we’re confident you will too, especially with the addition of the Tone control.

Walrus Audio: built by tone tweakers for tone tweakers

The artists, musicians, and engineers at Walrus Audio take pleasure in chasing sounds that inspire, like the perfect breakup of an overdrive, a beautifully thick distortion, an endlessly sustaining reverb, and a self-oscillating delay. Simply put, these guys love to play with sound. They design stompboxes that re-create the sonic textures that they hear in their heads. Built by tone tweakers for tone tweakers, Walrus Audio’s guitar pedals are as versatile as they are functional. Complete with eye-grabbing graphics, Walrus Audio’s pedals are the perfect tools for guitarists who want to sculpt their own unique sounds.

Excellent

I bought this deep six compressor on the recommendation of a friend and I love it. The compression and sustain are amazing! Not a noisy pedal at all. It is a "leave on" on my pedalboard and will probably remain that way! Lots of control to experiment with. Being a tone nerd it gave me days of joy just mixing up settings dialing in my favorite.
If you get one and take the time to play with the settings you won't be disappointed!

Great

I don't know what the other reviews are talking about. This pedal is great. The tone knob is actually very cool. To me, it seems to do something to my sound that just enhances it.

Top notch compressor

Excellent compressor for the front end or even in the FX loop of an amp. You can make thinks sparklingly even but also compress things into a fuzz. Very nice evening out tool for any rig. I bet it would work well with any signal even balance with a direct box to convert to balanced. Just a thought.

Quality, but not great

I give this comp 4 stars because like everything Walrus makes, it's definitely quality...
You can get a very large amount of swash or you can dial in some subtle compression... the tone knob which cuts some low end might be useful for some.., for those that think the dynacomp gets too dark.
I like this compressor a lot but it just lacks that nice tone that the Xotic SP, Cali76 and Ego comps give you... it's definitely quieter than the SP... but I truly think the SP sounds better...
for those of us that like the compressed tone to play, not just to even dynamics but as a tone and sustain enhancer ...
4 stars is not bad... but I don't think it's the best in this price range...

Please get something else at this price range.

I'll leave it short, I ordered several Walrus pedals after discovering the Julia (best chorus ever in my book). None of them came close to the Julia, but this one was by far the worst, the only one with no redeeming value to me. It's noisy, even for a compressor (using an isolated power supply as well). The tone knob is not effective at cleaning up low end. Most importantly, the 'squash' at higher levels that is loved by many as an effect, and not just a tool, sounds awful. Just awful. Finally, and this totally sealed its fate, It is a tone sucker, especially noticeable if you're using heavier OD or distortion down the chain, just A/B the difference by turning this on and off, or dial down the mix and hear your full tone come back to life as you turn the knob.

At this price range, there are tens of better options. Keeley+ for one if you don't want the hassle of looking around
