An Affordable Les Paul with a Broken-in Look

The Epiphone Les Paul Special VE gives you a broken-in look and feel at an amazing price. The Les Paul Special VE delivers a fat and nasty tone, thanks to its two open-coil humbucker pickups. It features a poplar body that is acoustically resonant, and the mahogany neck and rosewood fretboard add warmth and sustain. The Epiphone Les Paul Special VE also boasts a cool vintage worn finish that feels just right. This is the go-to guitar for those who want to learn on a Les Paul-style guitar but don't want to break the bank.

Iconic Les Paul heritage

Since its release in the early 1950s, the Les Paul has been one of the most popular solidbody electric guitars in the world. It's used in genres ranging from country to metal and can be found in the hands of players as diverse as Zakk Wylde, Neil Young, and the man whose name adorns the headstock. These dual-humbucker beauties are capable of sounds that are rich, warm, and clear, while they can get aggressive, cutting, and mean with little effort. Just about every guitarist at Sweetwater has a Les Paul in their collection - and for good reason.

Quality tonewoods

The Epiphone Les Paul Special VE sings with all the fatness and clarity of its more expensive cousins. That's due in large part to the body's poplar construction. Poplar is a well-known tonewood for its mix of a balanced tonality and great sustain. And the Les Paul Special VE maintains the legendary LP mahogany neck and rosewood fretboard to attain the model's rich harmonic content.

Epiphone's vintage worn finish

Worn finishes, such as the Les Paul Special VE's vintage worn finish, are incredibly popular for the way they lend an air of vintage vibe to an instrument while giving the sought-after feel of a guitar that's been played for years. The vintage worn finish isn't as glossy as some finishes and mimics the way older instruments age. Its feel also helps the guitar seem smoother and faster when playing hot gigs that can cause you to sweat. And best of all, the vintage worn finish will only look better with age.

Epiphone Les Paul Special VE Electric Guitar Features:

  • Affordable Les Paul with a broken-in look
  • Poplar body sounds fantastic
  • 2 open-coil humbuckers sound warm and full
  • Single volume and tone controls
  • 3-way selector for pickup switching

Disappointed & Thrilled!

Despite the fact that the guitar I received has a non-working tone control and was in non-playable condition, the quality of the wood and the resonance makes up for lack of quality control. I really like the tuners, the neck, the simplified controls (although I wish they worked), the weight and balance, the flat satin finish and overall playability. Guitar needed to have the strings adjusted, so I would recommend paying for the setup on this guitar, especially if you are planning on sending as a gift, or are not comfortable with doing the work. Although, adjusting the bridge height and intonation is fairly straight forward. I am willing to give the benefit of the doubt and say that this guitar probably got damaged durning shipping, because it is the first time I have ever had a problem with a Sweetwater instrument. But it is my own choice to not send this back for an exchange, just because I like this particular chunk of wood, and SW was kind enough to send a replacement tone pot.

Outstanding!

Sweetwater has hit ANOTHER home run with this instrument! This guitar was ready to play right out of the box. No rough or sharp fret ends. No high frets or dead notes. No relief adjustment or intonation adjustment was required. I put a good set of strings on it (purchased from Sweetwater/Ernie Ball) and didnt even have to make an action adjustment. I was a bit uncomfortable purchasing a guitar online, but the Sweetwater Team gave me the confidence I needed and I am so glad I bought this guitar. I grabbed this for my son and we both love it. The 'Worn' finish is well done and looks nice. It stays in tune and sounds good. If you need a good guitar that wont break the bank, this would be one. Thank you,Sweetwater, you are AMAZING!

All you’ll ever need.

Bought this guitar already knowing how good Epiphone guitar s are. Mine came set up perfectly. No fret noise or rattles. Stock strings weren’t great but I only like Ernie Balls anyway. If you have a guitar this affordable and still this good why would you ever buy expensive guitars.

Fantastic

...Sounds pretty good and is very comfortable. Poplar body, mahogany neck, rosewood frets and 14-1 tuning keys? Are they nuts? Granted, it's not as pretty without a gloss finish and the tone doesn't compare with my more expensive guitars but it's a really great starter guitar. A lot of value for a tiny price.

Unbelievable !

I purchased this guitar for rehearsals. During the winter we're lucky if our rehearsal space reaches 50-55 degrees. For me it's not worth possibly causing issues with my expensive guitars. I bought this guitar to use at practice, as it is inexpensive. I paid an extra $... to have the neck and action checked and/or adjusted. This guitar plays and sounds great! I find this guitar exceeds the Gibson LP junior...
FYI: The pickups have a thin plastic sheet protecting them. Make sure you remove them. (They are hard to see) This guitar is great for beginners as well as pro's. You will love this guitar.
