Great-sounding Wireless for Guitar or Bass

Achieve the ultimate in wireless freedom with Sennheiser's ew 172 G4. Using a combination of a compact bodypack transmitter and a reliable rackmountable receiver, the ew 172 G4 system it easy to "plug in" without the hassle of onstage cable tangles. And it sounds great — you get 1,680 tunable UHF frequencies across a 42MHz bandwidth for interference-free reception. This system is highly expandable — you can link up to twelve receivers for simultaneous setup. And you'll benefit from a 330-foot transmission range and up to eight hours of operation. Beyond that, the ew 172 G4 is backwards-compatible with previous evolution systems, ensuring that your past investment continues to pay off into the future.

A transmitter made to perform with you

Sennheiser has packed many useful features into the lightweight SK 100 G4 bodypack transmitter. The SK 100 G4 has an easy-to-read graphic display, infrared sync, charging contacts, cable emulation, RF mute, an intuitive menu and much more. As features alone are no substitute for audio quality, the AF frequency response was expanded to 25Hz–18kHz for incredibly clear sound.

You can rely on this receiver

The rugged EM 100 G4 rack receiver is ready for the road with its proven transmission reliability and inspiring flexibility. A sound check mode allows you to check the audio and RF signal at any time during setup. Twenty frequency banks with 12 preset frequencies each — plus a user-programmable bank — mean you can easily run multiple channels of G4 wireless simultaneously. Beyond that, you get an easy-to-read LCD display with blue sync LED and dedicated Escape button.

Great sound from a wireless package

The ew 172 G4's cable emulator feature allows you adjust virtual cable lengths to get sound response just like a cable would provide. Another great feature for guitarists is the onboard tuner right on the display. A built-in 5-band EQ allows you to fine tune your sound even further. Bass players will be pleased with the enhanced AF frequency response; it starts at a thundering 25Hz, which will especially please players with 5-string bass guitars. Sennheiser included all the accessories you need, including a power supply unit, a rackmount kit, linking cable, an instrument cable, two antennas, two stacking elements, and AA batteries. Sweetwater knows you want a hassle-free wireless experience, with pro performance and ease of use. With the Sennheiser ew 172 G4, you get it

Fantastic Product

This wireless system is great, nice clear signal, never had loss of tone or power and the batters last a long time.
Music background: I play out most weekends

I'm convinced this is a necessity

Truly set me free, not only to move around more, but also to keep myself and the horn section behind me from tripping over cables in tight quarters. Trust me, you don't want people tripping over your guitar cord!!!

But even more importantly, this is the standard by which all other wireless units are measured. Don't go cheaper and kill you sound.

Good overall

I haven't used other brands much, but I gave this a five star because it works great for what I've used it for so far.
definitely recommended.

Works awesome, Sennheiser always spot on

I have had Sennheiser for my in ears, which never fails. I had bought Shure wireless which had some issues cutting out. Shure usually has pretty solid stuff so perhaps it was just a fluke. Been using cables last year or so and needed to go back to wireless...tried this Sennheiser unit and played 2 big shows this weekend & it was perfect! Would definitely recommend this system for guitar, I also bought the extra body pack. Thank you Andy Rice for the A1 Customer service, Sweetwater is really a great company.

Solid Well Built Unit

I went back and forth between this unit and two other models, one digital and one analog. I have owned several different units over the past 20 years both digital and analog. After a lot of deliberation and research and some input from the Sweetwater team I went with this unit based on a couple criteria.

1. Reliability - having owned a digital wireless system in the past I was concerned about dropouts. No issues to date with this unit. My previous digital unit constantly experienced dropouts in live applications which is a no-go, they may have gotten better since then but I was not willing to take that risk.

2. Durability - The Shure unit I owned before did not hold up well in a gigging environment, this unit is sturdy and well built with a steel housing for the receiver and the transmitter. I also like the 3.5mm input for the body pack input, I do recommend buying a back-up cable if you play out alot.

3. Sound Quality - Unit sounds awesome, you can adjust the sensitivity and save multiple settings for different guitars, my Godin LGX-SA, Peavey Wolfgang, Charvel, Taylor all have different settings based on how hot the pickups are. This unit gives you the flexibility to dial that in.

No issues syncing the bodypack to the receiver.

So far so good!!!!

From their studio-standard MD 421 II drum mic to their trusty headphones and ultra-reliable wireless systems, there are countless good reasons why the artists and engineers here at Sweetwater are quick to recommend Sennheiser products. In our personal studios, you'll find plenty of HD 280 Pro headphones, e609 Silver cab mics, and other staples, while many of us rely on EW wireless in-ear systems onstage. Our long association with Sennheiser means we constantly have their latest products in stock and in our hands, so we're ready to tell you all about them. If you're looking for Sennheiser gear, then get the information you need from people who use it - trust your Sweetwater Sales Engineer.
