D’Addario: innovative strings since 1680

When you go with D’Addario, you receive far more than a great set of strings. You’re benefiting from three centuries of string-making experience. The D’Addario family tradition began in 1680 in the tiny town of Salle, Italy, where they made assorted instrument strings for over 200 years before relocating to New York in 1905. Since then, the D’Addario family has become a leader in string innovation. They designed the modern winding machine, introduced ultra-reliable hexagonal core wires, and pioneered the colored-coded ball end movement. More than 300 years since the family started making strings, D’Addario continues to set a global standard for quality and reliability. And every day, more than 500,000 strings emerge from their USA-based workshops.

PR$ Standard

Thanks again to Brian Massey my sales engineer. Brand came with high recommendations. This guitar not only looks great but the neck is awesome. From the first chord, could tell this was special. My tones are cleaner, ease of play was a surprise. Has given me that boost in inspiration that we all look and hope for whenever we make new gear purchases. PRS has unique sounds. Absolutely love them. Fits nicely in my collection.

We are here to play guitar not to lift weights

I have been playing the guitar for about 40 years now including 20 professionally 5 nights a week at times and I can safely say that I have played most brands and gauges available on the market, some being considered "boutique".

Back in the mid eighties to the end of the nineties, we thought that huge strings equals huge tone, you know the SRV thing.. I suppose it was our way trying to stay relevant by being the baddest cat in town.
Well, first of all, tone wasn't more huge, just different (not necessarily in a good way), but most importantly, this is from that point on that I started developing tendinitis and arthritis followed earlier than it should have and I know, this is an unpopular reality.

Since then, I have been suffering from my hand daily, especially from CMC and have been looking for a string that would allow a painless playing experience but with great tone!
I tried them all, and they all had their pros and cons, very hard to find a bad string nowadays.
I needed a consistent string from set to set, a full and balanced tone, effortless to bend, buttery feel to the touch, stay in tune with minimal stretching, doesn't break, with a decent life span and priced right and I found that string!

D'Addario EXL series, .008 to .038.

There isn't a more consistent string on the market today, and if you are serious about your playing, then you have to do it right and preserve your hands as well as your ears.. Oops that's for another review;)

My Favorite Strings

I've tried pretty much every brand out there and these feel the best! They last longer than Ernie Balls as well :-)

D'Addario has converted me!

I was an Ernie Ball string loyalist for the better part of 20 years, but I recently changed gauges and decided to give these a try and I must admit they feel better and have easier playability than EBs.

Shred away!!!

My favorite strings and favorite gauge 8-38. Very fast. Can bend like crazy!!! And they stay in tune. No "twang" either. These are all i use. Period. EVH uses this gauge and last i heard, he was doing pretty good at guitar
