Unlimited Groove Creation Potential

With outstanding sounds, powerful sequencing and pattern management, and awesome Korg effects, the Korg Electribe is primed for modern music production. Over 400 sounds are on tap, assignable to the 16 velocity-sensitive pads in any combination you like. When it comes to creating drums, bass, and synthesizer grooves for your studio projects or live performance, you'll be blown away by the Korg Electribe music production workstation.

Korg Electribe Music Production Workstation at a Glance:
  • Create complex grooves and arrangements with built-in sounds
  • Hands-on Kaoss-style effects manipulation
  • Create anywhere, then export to Ableton Live
  • Sequence any way you want, with 16 velocity-sensitive pads
  • Modulation sequencer for amazing live performance potential
Create complex grooves and arrangements with built-in sounds

With over 400 sounds and a 16-part sequencer, you can create incredibly complex and intricate grooves with the Korg Electribe. You can create up to 250 patterns and group them together into banks for easy one-touch recall. And with analog modeled and PCM instrument sounds on top of awesome drums, you can create melodies and bass lines along with your rhythms. If you're looking for a drum machine that you can use to build up full arrangements and switch patterns on the fly, you'll be well served with the Korg Electribe.

Hands-on Kaoss-style effects manipulation

A Kaoss-style X/Y pad on the Korg Electribe replaces the ribbon controller found on previous Electribes, giving you hands-on control over effects parameters. It's cool for filter sweeps, and it also lets you trigger instrument sounds to play scales and arpeggiations. When you're performing live, you'll love the intuitive and creative control this touchpad allows. Best of all, the Electribe has an internal modulation sequencer that lets you record your hands-on manipulations onto your pattern for even more creative potential.

Create anywhere, then export to Ableton Live

Electronic music producers at Sweetwater love the go-anywhere nature of the Korg Electribe - it's even battery powered for true portability. But when you're back in your studio, you need an easy way to integrate with the rest of your gear. If you use Ableton Live, you're in luck - the Korg Electribe can export each part within a pattern to a dedicated .wav file, and it generates an Ableton Live Set (.als) file that puts your pattern directly into Ableton Live.

Sequence any way you want, with 16 velocity-sensitive pads

Whether you like to tap in your own drum grooves or use a step sequencer, the Korg Electribe has you covered. The 16 velocity-sensitive pads have a great feel to them, and you can use them as a keyboard to play bass lines and melodies with instrument sounds. Each pattern you create can have up to 64 steps for each part, long enough to create patterns that build and pulse instead of simply looping over and over.

Modulation sequencer for amazing live performance potential

The Korg Electribe's modulation sequencer lets you add excitement to your patterns by recording your hands-on manipulations. There are 24 modulation sequences for each pattern, allowing you to automate filter sweeps, delay swells, pan positions, and much more. Especially if you're performing live, the Electribe's modulation sequencer lets you add another layer of creativity to your music.

A FUN device!

I really like playing with my elektribe. I just got around to making my own beats instead of changing and going through the presets, and I love its flexibility and ease of use.

Quality from Korg

I bought this to replace my sr18, though this is more of a beast. I was able to consolidate units and do more with less. Only complaint is that when changing patterns long effects like delay and reverb get cut off if the tail is long, but there are work arounds.

It's also good for writing on the go as it can export to ableton live.

Highly recommended.

Great Product

Don't get me wrong. I love this instrument and i plan to get a second. ITs super fun to use. You craft almost all the synth-sounds from raw wave forms. Don't expect a bunch of predesigned patches. You get raw wave forms with this device. Don't get me wrong you have allot of potential with the sounds. One drawback. 4 bars only. Another drawback. Sometimes the synth can sound a little raw compared to other instruments. You can do almost any type of music on this device. In-fact i'm pretty sure i'm the only one to ever do Dub Techno on this device. Look for The Shiny Object on YouTube. Buy this instrument! And then buy another and send it to me.

New Color. Same OS

Korg spent the time to change the colors and find new knobs. What they didn't do is update a number of useful and easily fixed items in the OS. The synthesizer is amazing, and there is a knob for most things you are likely to care about. But there is no song mode, step sequencing (or step recording) is a pain, and LFO's are programmed in weird increments instead of note values. There has been an online petition to fix these things. Nothing happened other than pattern chaining. If you're going to stand over it and sequence dance tracks - it might work for you. If you're thinking about it like your Akai MPC and need to be out in front of it while it does your evil, perfectly programmed bidding - forget it. It doesn't play or export MIDI files; you must have another gizmo feeding it. I'd happily pay twice this for a useable, battery powered box drum box. Nobody is doing that feature set. The blue is pretty, though.

What Do Our In-house Gear Experts Think?

Caleb Lowrey

When I lived in New York, I used to take my Korg Electribe with me on the subway and make beats on the way downtown. I love that I can lay down fresh ideas wherever I go, and being able to export my work right into Ableton Live has become a huge part of my workflow. I've spent a lot of time with this machine, and even on its own, I still find myself scrolling through the huge library of synths, drums, and effects and constantly discovering new things to inspire my creativity.
