The Most Approachable FANTOM Yet!

For over 20 years, Roland FANTOM workstations have offered cutting-edge keyboard technology that eliminates the gap between performance instruments and studio workstations. Now, Sweetwater is excited to offer the FANTOM-06, Roland’s most intuitive and powerful FANTOM yet! Featuring the same inspiring production tools and deep computer integration as Roland’s flagship FANTOM keyboards, the FANTOM-06 is a value-packed creative hub that puts an intuitive, streamlined, and unconstrained musical powerhouse at your fingertips. With its advanced 16-part multitimbral sound engine, featuring ZEN-Core and SuperNATURAL tone generators, the FANTOM-06 is packed with a wealth of stunningly realistic acoustic and electronic sounds. Plus, it gives you access to a massive supply of sound-shaping options to construct custom patches limited only to your imagination. Get ready to enter an endless universe of sonic exploration with the FANTOM-06!

A formidable sonic arsenal

The FANTOM-06 is fortified with an arsenal of inspiring, authentic electronic, acoustic, and hybrid sounds. Its powerful, versatile, and expandable sound engine draws on decades of industry-leading Roland technology, letting you combine various synthesis and sampling technologies along with the onboard digital filter for new cutting-edge sounds and the ability to take advantage of new sound expansions and capabilities as they become available. The FANTOM-06 nails coveted instruments from Roland's vaunted legacy of genre-defining synths while blazing new synthesis frontiers. At the FANTOM-06's core are Roland's custom Behavior Modeling Chips, powering the instrument with smooth, precise control, massive polyphony, and full patch remain for seamless transitions.

Creativity without compromise

With no confusing modes, technical limitations, or sonic compromises to derail your creative process, FANTOM-06 fuels your creativity with its fast, fluid workflow. Its creative process facilitates and enhances the way modern musicians work by providing intuitive compositional tools, instant-recall creative environments, and deep integration with your DAW. Forget about having to remember which features work in which mode — the FANTOM-06 is always in creative mode.

Make the scene

Whenever you enter your creative zone, the FANTOM-06 is ready with custom creative spaces called scenes that contain your sounds, clips, patterns, and performance layouts — all triggerable with a single touch. A scene can be a complete song, a segment of a song, or merely a starting point with your sounds arranged just the way you want them. You can chain scenes together or swap them out instantly — with no glitches or gaps.

Classic TR-REC pattern sequencer

FANTOM is a self-contained, 16-part multitimbral music composition platform designed for rapid creation and fluid arrangement. You can create patterns on the FANTOM-06 in a variety of ways, including step- and real-time polyphonic sequencing or the TR-REC pattern sequencer — ideal for rhythmic parts — as on Roland's iconic drum machines. The cornerstone of dance music is the step sequencer, none more classic than the 16-step TR-REC found in drum machines like the TR-808, TR-909, and the TR-8S. FANTOM’s onboard TR-REC sequencer is completely updated with sub steps for ratcheted parts, motion control for per-step automation, and support for chords.

Clip-based sequencing

Also at your fingertips are 16 RGB performance pads, real-time recording with piano-roll editing, and a grid for recording and launching clips. You can use any or all of these tools at any time to realize your musical goals. Build up tracks easily and quickly by arranging groups of clips. Record drums, bass lines, pads, and melodies into clips and trigger them separately or in scenes. This is an expeditious way to compose — and perfect for triggering backing tracks onstage.

Sonic superpower

The FANTOM-06 synth engine is based on Partials. Each Partial comprises a discrete synth voice, complete with oscillator, filter, amplifier, dual LFO, and effects. You can pack up to four Partials into a single Tone, and up to 16 Tones in a scene, which makes for mind-boggling complex layers, splits, and sequenced parts. With all this firepower, you can focus on creating music, not conserving processing power; you won’t have to concern yourself with how many effects you can use or if you can change sounds seamlessly without affecting complex patches. With the massive power available in FANTOM-06's engine room, you can run all 16 parts concurrently with all available effects and full patch remain.

Stunningly authentic sounds

To achieve its stunningly authentic acoustic and electronic sounds, FANTOM runs digital modeling, sampling, and analog synthesis technologies simultaneously. You can sample your own sounds and trigger up to two gigabytes of loops and one-shots from the onboard performance pad matrix. For extra warmth and grit, there’s also a digital filter that's completely routable, and you can even mix your favorite soft synths with the FANTOM-06’s internal sounds. For countless composers cross-genre, the piano is the heart of the creative process. The FANTOM-06 incorporates Roland's advanced SuperNATURAL technology that meticulously models the components of the instrument and lets you fine-tune them to craft pianos that match your personal taste and respond just like their acoustic counterparts.

Masterful connectivity

While the FANTOM-06 is jaw-droppingly powerful in and of itself, its beastly power grows exponentially when connected to other equipment such as computers or analog synthesizers. The FANTOM-06's two mic inputs and onboard 16 x 2 stereo audio interface let you record studio-quality sound and route it to and from your DAW. The FANTOM-06 is also a masterful MIDI control surface for your DAW and plug-ins, letting you adjust parameters right from FANTOM's touchscreen. Mix and layer soft synths with the FANTOM-06’s internal sounds, and route them through FANTOM-06’s digital filter section.

Fantom 06 it’s just what I needed!

It's my do all, be all keyboard for recording studios especially my studio for a few reasons
1. Small footprint, I may need it in the tracking room or the live room or the control room and each room is has limited space
2. I need legitimate sounds because when people hear something from my studio I want them to book time here because it sounds that good
3. It's faster than working with a daw, boots up super fast and you're up and running and it doesn't matter if you're creating a song or or looking for a sound for inspiration
4. Surprise bonus it's in my bedroom right now and I work on ideas when I have extra time and I don't have to go to the basement and boot up my entire studio just to work on a song
5. I try to have something that my clients will want to use on their tracks and I need something that will sound good on everything because you never know where the money will take you
6. My final thoughts I was looking for a keyboard for live players with great sounds and also a sequencer because I'm not a fan of making beats on a laptop and the workflow is amazing

The Fantom 06 is a 'lil beast!

This is my 1st Roland keyboard, ever. I've been in(and still am with a new Nautilus) the Korg ecosystem since the M1 launch 35 yrs ago. So getting used to the top panel has been interesting, but it's all laid out pretty well and much easier than I'd expected. I got this for the quick sampling and the sampling pads, and I definitely made the right decision. This Fantom mates great with the Nautilus. The only 2 areas it's not top notch in, are it's key bed, and the available internal storage. But at this price, those shouldn't be expectations. You can't stream/read directly from a flash drive, so you're stuck with roughly 500mb. You get to download thousands of Free tones etc, from Roland Cloud, so you'll fill it up in 1 sitting. But, I'm more than pleased with the quality of the free packs available, Free is good! The key bed is more than adequate, unless you're trying to play piano with nuance & subtlety. This is definitely geared towards synth play, and at that, it excels. The sheer amount of sounds(tones) is incredible. There must be 3 to 4k at my fingertips, maybe more.

Now on to Sweetwater... I had no idea that they were finally offering easy pay options. I'll never bother with those other websites again after knowing this. I also got their credit card, so there are a lot of musical toys in my future. Communication is always top notch, and they get your order into the hands of Fedex immediately(very pleased they use Fedex).

I'm only a state away, so I can order early afternoon, and I still receive the gear less than 24 hrs later. Incredible.

If you can get your hands on the Fantom 06, don't hesitate. Getting it fast from Sweetwater just makes the purchase all the better!

I’m very happy with this workstation

Historically I've been a computer & DAW person, and just used MIDI keyboards when I needed them. But after spending all day on a computer for work, I often don't feel like being on a computer anymore and wanted a solution for that. I decided to get the Fantom-06 and I couldn't be happier with my decision. The sounds are endless and they're really great sounds. I'm still getting to know the sequencer but for putting together a fleshed out idea it has what I need. I can bounce it back into Ableton to finish it (mixing, mastering, little flourishes). I don't do live performances, but I imagine it would work well for that scenario. The keybed also feels good to me. I'm used to smaller midi keyboards and this keybed is definitely a step up from those in terms of feel. Sometimes I just sit down and play it to practice. It's a great stress relief and dopamine maker. For all that it can do and the potential with expansions, the price on this workstation is a phenomenal value. No regrets.

HANDS DOWN THE BEST

Ok, I've been in the music industry for over 30 years. I wanted to upgrade my keyboard/synth , as throughout my career, I mainly used an Alesis QS6. It still functions excellent. (had it repaired twice). I am a music producer, and the main reason I utilize a keyboard are nuances, choirs, strings, weird synth sounds , ect. . .to fill in the "big picture" for final production. My main genre is Hard rock/classical. OK. That being said, if you are in my shoes , don't bother with the Akai MPC 61. Its not for you. Get the Roland Fantom 06, (or 07 or 08), same engine, just more keys.IT HAS EVERYTHING YOU NEED AND IS A FULLY FUCTIONING MUSIC WORKSTATION. I don't need a recording unit. . lol. . I own 3 Tascam 32 tracks for recording plus a Tascam SS-CDR250N. . .for production. I am writing this post so you don't waste time looking for a top notch keyboard at a reasonable price, WITH ALL THE PRESETS YOU NEED. The Akai didn't even have flutes. REALLY? Go with this unit. SOOO many sounds. Incredible.

So much easier to use than a DAW!

I know some people lament the non-linear sequencer used in the FANTOM series, but I love the pattern based sequencer used on this FANTOM.
Since many parts of a song repeat more than once, this approach saves a LOT of time and speeds up the workflow.

The sounds are truly awesome, just like you would expect from Roland.

Also, this is probably THE BEST workstation for people who (like me) don't play piano/keyboard, because it has a lot of Artificial Intelligence that will handle all of the chords, scales and arpeggios. It can even "strum" the guitar sounds just like a real guitar player. So cool!

Like all my other Roland purchases, I am very happy with this keyboard.

Simply put, modern electronic music wouldn't exist without Roland. Many of the electronic musicians here at Sweetwater cut our teeth on TR Rhythm machines and fondly remember programming our first TB-303s. We owe a good part of our careers to this amazing and innovative company. It's been fun to watch and grow right alongside Roland, as they've introduced wave after wave of revolutionary keyboards, digital pianos, and more. For example, Roland's V-Drum Kits continuously redefine the possibilities of electronic drums, beginning with SuperNATURAL technology to the latest Prismatic Sound Modeling. We're huge fans, and we'd love to tell you all about them. Whether you want a pocket-sized synth or a cutting-edge video mixer, if Roland makes it, then Sweetwater is 100% behind it.
