A Value-packed Classic Guild Tone Cannon

The Guild D-140 brings back the glory days when dreadnoughts ruled. Designed with scalloped Sitka spruce bracing for power, articulation, and responsiveness, this all-solid-tonewood acoustic guitar delivers massive tone and volume. The D-140’s large dreadnought body, with its Sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides, serves up a robust tonal palette that’s perfect for vocal accompaniment, solo work, and many other "unplugged" applications. The D-140’s C-profile mahogany neck is comfortable and easy to navigate. Premium appointments include a genuine rosewood fingerboard and bridge, a bone nut and saddle, and a tortoiseshell pickguard. A vintage-style Antique Burst finish imparts a timeless look and feel while allowing the sound of the Guild D-140 to bloom unimpeded.

Top-shelf tonewoods and design

Guild’s heritage as one of America’s premier early guitar makers comes to fruition in the D-140. Solid Sitka spruce and mahogany meet in a traditional dreadnought body for a big sound and great playing experience. A real bone nut and saddle also support great sustain and clarity. And a 1960s-style red tortoiseshell pickguard lends even more classic look and vibe.

Crafted for a comfortable playing experience

The D-140’s clean playability will help channel all your creative ideas into beautiful music. Seasoned players will notice right away the D-140’s outstanding playability all along the 25.5"-scale-length C-shaped neck. The nut width spaces out strings suitably for strumming, flatpicking, or fingerstyle; with a good amount of real estate that neither feels cramped nor causes you to stretch uncomfortably.

Guild: a heritage of quality

Since the 1950s, the Guild name has been synonymous with premium acoustic guitars. See the D-140’s iconic Guild peak headstock logo? That’s your assurance of Guild quality, which is evident throughout this commanding acoustic guitar, from the premium solid tonewoods to the genuine bone nut and saddle. Sweetwater guitarists agree: the Guild D-140 is an acoustic guitar that’s made to be seen — and heard.

Difficult to believe....

I already have (OM-size) "off-shore" Guild, and have been really pleased with it. Needed a new dread , so starting looking for a Guild. I played and American-made (Oxnard) D-40, and a D-140 (made at Guilds factory in China). Was there a difference? Yes. Was it $3000 worth of difference. No way. This D-140 is everything I could ask for from a solid wood dreadnaught: Loud, yet crisp, with a sustain that is just amazing. Fit and finish seems perfect, and the "hard bag" is really nice. If you're looking for ALL a solid wood Spruce/Mahogany dread, for well under $1000, I highly recommend you take a close look at the D-140.

Why is this not very popular?

This Guild D-140 should be very popular! It sounds and looks like a $3,000 guitar. For $... this guitar is big bargain. I can't believe I didn't know about this good thing a watch a lot of videos on YouTube and read a lot of reviews that's how I discovered this guitar. It has solid bass and sweet treble and volume. And so beautiful. The finish is perfect on antique sunburst. The only thing I didn't like are the strings that came with it. I replaced it with Elixir 12-53 phosphor bronze and I put LR Baggs Anthem Tru Mic and it sounded like a huge guitar like a D-55. Now I'm thinking about getting a D-40 with a natural finish.

Great Guitar!

Was looking for a full sized Dreadnought and this one caught my eye. After letting it adjust to the local climate for a few days, the D-140 plays wonderfully. The set up was on point! I expected the guitar to be heavier, as as my solid D'Angelico Bowery is a tank, but it is light. I dig the tones, hooked it up to a Seymour Duncan Woody and it sounds great amplified. The bass in this guitar is so good. Great mid-range price guitar. Side note, the guitar came with a small clip on mic that is not mentioned anywhere on SW's or Guild's website.

Outstanding dreadnaught, hard to beat value

I've had a Guild D-140 for almost a month now and I have a hard time putting it down. Excellent balance up and down the fret board, plenty of projection but not bright or brash. Just a full, punchy, resonant all-solid dreadnaught sound for a great price. The tone is already warming up nicely after only a month and becoming even more versatile.
