Paper and aluminum cone make an impressive sonic combo

So what makes the Hartke HD500 bass combo stand apart from competitors? It all revolves around the HyDrive speaker design. The HyDrive speaker uses paper around the outside for traditional warm, round tones. But the middle is aluminum, adding trademark Hartke zing to your upper mids and highs. The HD500 bass combo is designed to be a gig-friendly option for touring and traveling musicians. Patented HyDrive speakers and a 500-watt Class D power amp help to keep weight down for night-after-night portability.

Shape control gives a one-touch boost at 100–900Hz

Bassists at Sweetwater like using the HD500's Shape control in addition to its 3-band EQ to enhance a selected frequency range with the press of a button. This is helpful when you want a bass boost or low-mid bump for a certain section of a song without disrupting your EQ settings. Cycle between 100–900Hz to define the sound you want, then engage any time your tone needs a little sweetening.

Strange Problem

I bought this amp expecting great things. I've owned and loved Hartke gear in the past, and this little beauty had everything I wanted: size, weight, power, punch, great tone, and a great price. Unfortunately, it died at the first gig before the third song was over!!! We were pretty sure the problem was in the headphone jack, which cuts off the speakers. Ed Nystrom and Sweetwater took good care of me. A replacement is on the way. I decided to try the same amp, because other than this problem, which I believe is a one-off issue, it's PERFECT!!! I wish it came with a cover. Can't wait to gig it next weekend!

I wrote a review 5 years ago about this bass amp, and highly recommended it, If u are in the market for a great sounding amp that can handle just about any gig get one of these, you will Love it.

Hartke HD500

I have had this Amp for over a year. it has been a work horse, no matter what size venue. It is a very versatile amp only limi89ted to what my brain can do.

So Good I Have Two

I was always a Hartke fan but would never hold back on a review,,,, this amp is awesome in every way I bought a spare,,, BUT,, I do wish I could drive another cabinet off this amp,, that being said,, it's not a deal breaker because I could have bought another brand that can drive a 2nd cabinet but didn't because the HD500 has all the power and great sound I need for a gig,,,, keep in mind, I need power because we are an 11 piece band so I can't fall short on volume. For more power I could get an ABY pedal and run both HD500's. The Shape feature is great because when we do a ballad I press the button and have it set to give the song a warmer tone. It is compact and light, which is good because the equipment is always heavier after a gig

Simply amazing!!

I got this combo for rehearsals, small gigs and more practical things. After getting several years ago the 4x10 cab as the to go cab and not been disappointed, I decided to pull the plug since carrying the big cab and 1,200 watt custom head wasn't only easy to take anywhere. I felt I needed something a little more flexible, and so I got this combo. I honestly had my doubts about if this could carry the sound load on a full band rehearsal but OM!!! was I wrong, I just had a rehearsal yesterday for several coming shows and wow! what a sound, tone, power and the most awesome thing is is not heavy it all and it doesn't break the bank. Harte has truly create something that I personally believe will last for a long time..
