Analog Chorus, Vibrato, and All Shades Between

From subtle textural movement to warbling trembulations, the Walrus Audio Julia V2 analog chorus/vibrato pedal — now featuring updated artwork from designer Adam Forster —is a master at sonic landscaping. Its feature set extends far beyond the usual suspects (rate, depth). An analog LFO with waveform switch toggles between sine and triangle wave shapes, enabling more reserved or dramatic effects as occasions demand; an LFO LED blinks in time for visual feedback. Most unique to the Walrus Audio Julia V2 is the Lag control, which determines how much “swing” each LFO sweep has. Together with the Depth control, Julia’s Lag knob really takes this pedal into a new realm of sound-shaping possibility. A fully continuous blend control dials between dry, chorus, and vibrato sounds. True bypass switching preserves your tone when Julia is out of the loop.

Walrus Audio pedals: built by sound-tweakers for sound-tweakers

The artists, musicians, and engineers at Walrus Audio take pleasure in chasing sounds that inspire, like the perfect breakup of an overdrive, a beautifully thick distortion, an endlessly sustaining reverb, and a self-oscillating delay. Simply put, these guys love to play with sound. They design stompboxes that re-create the sonic textures that they hear in their heads. Built by sound-tweakers for sound-tweakers, Walrus Audio's guitar pedals are as versatile as they are functional. At Sweetwater, we’ve found that Walrus Audio’s pedals are the perfect tools for guitarists who want to sculpt their own unique sounds.

Adam Forster’s updated artwork gives the Julia V2 enhanced optics underfoot.

One Chorus To Rule Them All..

Many effects pedals, in an attempt to provide the widest possible range of sounds, do so with the comprimise of never having done any one thing great. So we buy multiple pedals of the same type; 2 Delays, 2 Reverbs, 4 Drives, etc... Thankfully, that is not the case with the Walrus Audio Julia.
The Julia has an amazing array of Chorus sounds and does them all in such a beautifully, musical way that I can't imagine ever needing another Chorus. It perfectly compliments all my other pedals. I never turn it off.
The Mix & Lag knobs are where (most of) the magic lies. Imo, every Chorus pedal should have these fuctions as standard. Maybe one day they will be, idk. Until then, there is little real competion that I can see.
Although simple to use, there IS a sort of learning curve as little tweaks make big changes. I've had it for a month now and I'm still finding more ways to use it. It's easy to get complacent though. As I said peviously, every setting sounds glorious. If you are a "set it & forget it" kind of player, then you'll quickly find that sweet spot.
Finally, I've read some reviews that mention noise. My Julia makes zero noise. Zero. I strongly suspect that these issues are due to underpowered and/or non-isolated power supplies. The Julia draws 100ma. And almost any modulation effect should be plugged into a good, isolated power brick anyway. (I have a Strymon Zuma... so there). If you're running an expensive pedalboard on a cheap daisy chain, then you get what you get. Don't blame the pedals.

Julia

This pedal is fantastic, it sounds great, I'm really enjoying it, adding it with other effects like drives, delays, reverbs .... it completes what is missing in its sound, in the clean sound added with it is very beautiful.

Walrus Julia 2

This is a great pedal, with three knobs and a micro switch that create a wide variety of chorus effects.

Excellent Pedal

The Julia's control knobs allow players a wide range of sounds. I play a Strat through a Fender and sometimes a Marshall, and the Julia richly complements both.

Simply perfect

You want that delightful chorus tone, and you want to buy the best pedal possible to achieve that tone… look no further - you just found it. I don't think I've turned this pedal off once in the two weeks I've had it. Using it to achieve Gilmour tones - more than capable of recreating any chorus tone you can think of
