Glass Fiber Speaker Cone for Powerful Bass

Behringer collaborated with master speaker designer Keith R. Klawitter, founder of KRK, to design the Nekkst K10S subwoofer, and the result is incredibly punchy, powerful bass. Sporting a glass fiber 10" speaker and 180 watts of power, the Nekkst K10S will add serious thump to any studio monitor system. A variable lowpass filter and phase switch make it easy to dial in the exact response your room and system need. Sweetwater knows that true full-range monitoring needs a sub for accurate bass response. Extend the range of your monitoring system, with the Behringer Nekkst K10S.

Behringer Nekkst K10S Active Studio Subwoofer at a Glance:
  • Created by a world-class speaker designer
  • Extended response from a smart cabinet design
  • Optimize the sound for your room
Created by a world-class speaker designer

When Behringer decided they wanted to make an exceptional studio subwoofer, they contacted one of the most renowned speaker designers in the world - the founder of KRK, Keith R. Klawitter. Keith designed the unique glass fiber speaker cone, known for its outstanding bass punch and transient response. You can expect powerful, punchy lows and excellent transient response from the Behringer Nekkst K10S subwoofer.

Extended response from a smart cabinet design

You'll notice exceptional bass response with the Nekkst K10S subwoofer, thanks to Keith R. Klawitter's innovative cabinet design. The curvature of the baffle and the dimensions of the front port were designed for extended low frequency response with minimal distortion. You'll be able to make better mix decisions, with cleaner-sounding mixes as a result.

Optimize the sound for your room

On the back of the Nekkst K10S subwoofer you'll find a variable lowpass filter, and the crossover frequency is actually labelled for precise settings when used with Behringer's Nekkst K5, K6, or K8 studio monitors. If you're using a different set of studio monitors, just use your ears to find the right balance between your speakers and the Nekkst K10S subwoofer.

Behringer Nekkst K10S Active Studio Subwoofer Features:
  • Active studio subwoofer with 10" speaker

The Missing Piece Has Arrived!!!

The Behringer Nekkst K10S is the perfect match for my existing Beringer Truth 3031As. Still getting it "dialed in" to my room. The cabinet looks like a nice piece of furniture. The controls and connections are easy to use. I've really been pleased with my Beringer purchases over the passed couple of years (X-Touch, Control 2, and now K10S). Thanks Sweetwater...as you guys were the most convienient source for my new subwoofer (no backorder). So far I'm loving this purchase!!

Nice low end to compliment my monitors

I have a couple of inexpensive near-field monitors that are good but lacked that low-end fullness when the volume is turned up a little. This subwoofer adds that missing low-end really well and without that sub-boom that happens with other subwoofers. This subwoofer is a great value! I am really happy with my purchase.

Great low end

If you need subs get these quick. Love the crossovers on these. It allows me to get as low as need to and still have clarity when used with monitors. Great price also.

Excellent performance for discerning project studio mixes

I have a well-treated project studio that features Behringer B2031A powered speakers that I bought used in excellent condition. These are the Genelec 1031A knock-offs that Behringer marketed under the Truth brand, with the promise that they are quite flat and well-made. The B2031A are indeed well-made, with strong power suited to the 8.75" woofer, and giving decent detail in the tweeter. The frequency response for these is rated down to 40Hz, and in my room tuning I found the B2031As went down lower. Even after using ARC 3 from IK Multimedia to do some room correction, I felt I could do better with a properly matched subwoofer.

I found that the K10S (a design by the founder of KRK) sitting in the corner (as recommended by Room EQ Wizard's tools) creates precisely the result I wanted.

1. The sub, rated down to 40Hz (like the B2031A), actually gives a smooth response after ARC down to 21Hz and is only down 6dB at 17Hz.
2. The bass is tight and focused.
3. The crossover barely makes a dent in the measured frequency response with my calibration monitor.

I mix and master a variety of genres, and play back music (using Rogue Amoeba tools) through the ARC 3 room correction platform, and all genres speak properly. I get beautiful sub-bass in hip-hop and EDM, playing comfortably at even loud volumes without excessive blurring or blooming of the bass, and the low-mids out of the B2031A are solid, with high detail and good soundstage. In jazz, which I mix a fair amount, the consistency in the power levels produced in the room match the levels I'm seeing in SPAN, and the details again in the low-mids on the B2031A are superb. This is part of the reason you get subs ... your mains don't have to work too hard reproducing lows AND low-mids. Separating their roles gives improved detail and high confidence in low-end mixing and mastering.

The beautiful thing about all this is that the product seems very well-built, has useful settings, and of course the KRK pedigree, all at a fantastic price.

I would like a "defeat" switch, not because I'm mixing in any environment that would disturb neighbors, but just as a way of doing some basic testing, but even then, I'm thrilled with the setup and the defeat switch isn't really needed - just a nice to have.

I HIGHLY recommend you understand your room, address room modes, and get something Iike SonarWorks or ARC 3 (I love the latter) to make sure your combination of mains and sub are playing well and give you confidence that your mixes will translate.
