Big Sound and Performance Flexibility

The Roland KC-990 4-channel keyboard amplifier is an outstanding solution for amplifying your keyboard and synthesizers, complete with onboard mixing and full-range stereo sound. In fact, it's also a well-equipped portable PA, with an auxiliary input for external audio and XLR microphone input for vocals. With dual 12" woofers and separate tweeters, driven by 320 watts of power, the KC-990 is ready for practice sessions and gigs. Built-in effects allow you to spice up your sound with reverb, chorus, and rotary speaker emulation. And for more input channels, or simply to push more air, you can link two KC-990 amps together using the stereo link connection. If you came to Sweetwater searching for a versatile keyboard amplifier, you've found it in the Roland KC-990.

Deeper bass and better sonic balance

Roland's KC-series amplifiers have been some of the most popular keyboard amps at Sweetwater for over a decade. This KC-990 represents the latest generation of the KC series, featuring a redesigned power amp and power supply. These not only provide more stable operation than ever, but they also help the KC-990 serve up deeper bass and a wider sonic range overall.

Custom speakers for enhanced detail and depth

To take advantage of its revamped power section, the KC-990 keyboard amp features a custom-designed 12" speaker for exceptional fidelity. Combined with its built-in tweeter, the KC-990 delivers solid lows, prominent mids, and detailed highs. Synth bass patches thump with authority, while piano and organ sounds speak with clarity and detail. Whatever you plug into it, the KC-990 amplifies it with stellar sound quality.

Roland KC-990

It's the greatest sounding amp I've ever heard. Being on rollers it's easy to take to church or any place to perform. The bass is deep. The midrange is fantastic, and the highs make a keyboard sound like a grand piano. You can plug a bass, guitar, keyboard, and drum kit into it simultaneously. There's a place for a microphone for singing. My sales engineer, Logan Casper, has helped me with all my music product decisions. He's the best. Shipping is quite fast as well from Sweetwater.

This one does it for me

I was running two old staticky Peavey KB100 amps with my stereo Yamaha MX88. I primarily use the piano, electric piano, and organ emulations on my MX. The keyboard does well, but the amps needed to be laid to rest, so I contacted Sweetwater rep, Jeff Weinstein for a recommendation on a stereo amp. He shot back a few questions for me to answer and a day and a half later he suggested the Roland KC-990. Here's the lowdown after almost a week of sleeping with this amp.

Yes, it's heavy, but not as heavy as my previous B2 and Leslie 122. My Rhodes was also a tough lift. This amp is a two-man carry. The literature even suggests having two guys carrying this, but the 91 lbs. wasn't an issue for me. The wheels are a big help in moving this across a floor. On the bright side, you won't have to worry about someone stealing this thing.

The sound is awesome, especially the bass response. This amp thumps. It bends low which was another plus for me as I'm planning on a three-piece (keys, guitar, drums). So, now I'm thinking of bass pedals to free my left hand from that duty.

The onboard effects are good. I like the reverb and will play with the chorus and tremolo a bit more. The rotary effect isn't bad, but I'm keeping my Lester K connected as I think Lester is better.

One more thing, I ran my acoustic guitar through this and even that sounded good. If acoustic guitar was all I played I would get something else as this amp is a bit pricey, but if you play keyboard and acoustic, you may as well take full advantage of your purchase.

Here's my recommendation:
1. Contact Jeff Weinstein for your rig needs whether you're a keyboardist or guitarist.
2. By this amp for your keys
3. If you sleep with your amp as I do, get a king size bed.
Music background: Primarily an organist, then piano, accordion, melodica, some guitar. Blues and progressive Rock.

Breathtaking...

The sheer acoustic force this machine could generate should be consider a sonic weapon. The life it brings to my analog synths are incredible. Power delivered to keyboard workstations are stellar, you won't be looking back from this one! So good... I need two!!

So good I bought TWO!

Yes, really. Excellent sound and flexibility. Stereo link (not that it's mono by itself) is also very cool, on top of everything else. Thanks for another great purchase experience, Sweetwater. Always a pleasure. In a world of complicated and poorly made garbage, this is a great unit. Caution: HEAVY

Wonderful Purchase

Very pleased with the Roland KC-990. Great sounds, great flexibility and great opportunities. Just got mine and will be playing the first gig next week. From the ease of operation, sound and flexibility it should be a game changer. Trust my musician skills will match the great sound system. Sweetwater was terrific throughout. Would recommend them strongly.

Simply put, modern electronic music wouldn't exist without Roland. Many of the electronic musicians here at Sweetwater cut our teeth on TR Rhythm machines and fondly remember programming our first TB-303s. We owe a good part of our careers to this amazing and innovative company. It's been fun to watch and grow right alongside Roland, as they've introduced wave after wave of revolutionary keyboards, digital pianos, and more. For example, Roland's V-Drum Kits continuously redefine the possibilities of electronic drums, beginning with SuperNATURAL technology to the latest Prismatic Sound Modeling. We're huge fans, and we'd love to tell you all about them. Whether you want a pocket-sized synth or a cutting-edge video mixer, if Roland makes it, then Sweetwater is 100% behind it.
