Great compact bass amp

I'm a new bass player that wanted a light weight but powerful and versatile amplifier for my Hofner violin bass I planned to play in variety of settings. The Peavey Max 208 has turned out to be a great fit for my needs. Whether using it as a practice amp at home, in a large church setting plugged into its Bose PA system, or used stand alone in smaller settings, the Max 208 produces enough power and tone shaping options to handle a variety of uses. I'm giving it 5 stars for its overall look, quality, performance, versatility, portability, and affordable price point.
Music background: Long time singer and percussionist that has falling in love with playing bass in the last year. I primarily play contemporary worship music in a large church setting. However, I play to also play in small bar type settings and record original music in the

Impressive

This amp is very impressive and LOUD for its size and price. It will drive a band without breaking up. It won't drive a room without P.A. Support, but will cover a club size stage well.
They say it's 200watts but really only 130
I wish it had the ability to add an extension cabinet and I've heard some complaints about it lightly built enough to rattle. Mine does not (yet)
Taking into consideration that it was $, I'm willing to overlook its shortcomings.
I think it's the best value available in its class.

Best bang for your buck

For the price point this thing is an animal. More than loud and clear enough of a sound to gig with, and in a small enough package that it's a breeze to throw it it in the car and take it somewhere to jam. 10/10 would recommend to anyone that doesn't want a big hefty cabinet and doesn't care to spend a bunch of money!

WOW

I never thought that much sound could come out of two eight inch speakers! All's I can say is WOW! Way more than I expected! Awesome amp! I got this for my studio thinking I didn't want a 15" speaker cab., so I didn't disturb my neighbor. Beware, big things do come in small packages. hehe Don't worry, it can still be done at a lower volume without disturbing neighbor. :) Awesome amp. though. Great for studio or for the big gig. Don't let the size fool you. It will do the job! D.

Excellent Amp for the Price

For the Price this Amp have a very nice punch and my favorite part is that it is very quite when the DI is connected. Is reasonably lite weight too.
