Very much needed for dry climate

Works great! Easy to use. I bought 3, I'm going to buy 3 more.

I haven't had to worry about my electric guitars before because I've lived in the Midwest most of my life where the humidity is almost always between 30 to 70 percent. I moved to Arizona over a year ago and the humidity is around 12 percent and I noticed small changes to my electric guitars because of it. I bought 3 of these and put them in my guitar cases with my electric guitars and they've already made a positive difference on my guitars after one week. My guitars were very thirsty and I re-wetted the sponges again tonight.

Make sure you use distilled water so the sponge doesn't get moldy. Just squeeze the sponge lightly to get the excess water out and place it in the holding case it comes with.

I just bought my fourth!

Go fourth and multiply...your satisfaction that all four (that's enough guitars for now) are being maintained well, as monitored by the Humireader. Should I consider the Humilele in the baritone uke's case as the fifth? The 3M adhesive does not stick well to plush, so I'm sure with a little thought I'll figure something out. Taylor Guitars has a demonstration of the amount of water held by a properly humidified guitar and a wood hard shell case (2X that of the guitar). Taylor notes that their gig bags are suitable for housing humidifiers and hygrometers. Other gig bags have possibilities...
Mold requires a food source substrate to grow on, which it can find in some caulking and potting compounds. Mom said that in Hawaii, we just lived with it. Remembering penicillin, living with mold, soil bacteria and other organisms likely made us stronger. A white vinegar rinse for the sponge? Contact Music Nomad support for help with these or any problems. Solutions are often closer and simpler that one might think.

Nothing Better for the $$ ...and your guitar is $$

I have some nice guitars and I love life in desert spaces. "What is the very best way to keep your guitars from springing apart and cracking to pieces?

This little thing- the Music Nomad Humitar- duh!

In Vegas, typically 15% humidity, I reload the fabulous sponges once every 4 or 5 days. The guitars and Humitars live in OHSC's (for my priciest instruments, I've bought a Waterproof, Shockproof Case, and once the Humitar's been in there for a couple of weeks humidifying the interior of the case and the guitar, I only very rarely have to refill the sponges- not even monthly).

If your guitar is better than a cheap $70 firestarter/kindling? You need these.

Sure, you can buy those others- the cheap sponges, the humidipaks, the electronic systems- but none come close to these good inexpensive reliable humidity producing Humitars by Music Nomad.

I own 6 and am ordering another from Ty, THE Man at Sweetwater.

ps- if you have mold growing in your sponges, I would guess you ought to check the ambient humidity- it's TOO Humid and you sure don't need humidification! Lucky you...

I like it

Wow, that sponge is amazing! Soaks better than a regular sponge. Placed it under the neck by the heel in my guitar case. Doesn't touch my Martin. I think this should do the job.

Gave it a 4.5 because adhesive tape doesn't work that well inside my guitar case. It sticks for now.

Mold Breeding Ground

I have been using these for about 2 months now and they have developed moldy areas in several areas of the sponges. What a joke! Why would anyone want to put a moldy sponge in the case with a valuable instrument? Stay away from these things unless you want to turn your guitar into a mold breeding ground. I am going back to using Oasis humidifiers. Have used them for 15-20 years without issue.
