More "You" for the Loudest Venues

For a vocalist, there's just no competing with a guitar stack or a drum kit on a loud stage. So when you need maximum gain before feedback, trust your sound to the Electro-Voice ND96. This striking flat-top dynamic mic puts more "you" in your stage monitor so you can perform better and gives your sound engineer a hotter signal to push your vocals to the back row. The ND96 includes a Presence switch to cut out mud when you're singing low, and then lets you bring it back in when you're belting. This simple feature puts you in the pilot seat of your own sound. And like other ND-series vocal mics, the ND96 has a modern EQ curve with vivid high-end detail to help you sound your best from any stage. Sweetwater is sure that performers and sound professionals alike will be pleased with the ND96's drop-weathering Memraflex grille and noise-rejecting internal shockmount.

The Electro-Voice ND series picks up where N/DYM left off

For years, EV's N/DYM series of live and studio dynamic microphones have been a beacon of hope to us low-enders and live-sounders. And now Electro-Voice promises to deliver even better performance with its EV ND collection. This line includes eight new vocal, drum, amp, and instrument mics to cover a wide range of stage and studio needs. Beneath the dent-resistant Memraflex grilles are redesigned large-diaphragm capsules with humbucking coils and internal shockmounts to capture a rich, musical sound with low noise - all on a budget. When you need dependable performance on a workingman's income, Sweetwater sound professionals encourage you to check out Electro-Voice ND microphones.

Best Vocal Mic Under $200

I'm a professional lead vocalist with over 30 years experience and a UK No1 album under my belt. I've used all types of mics at all types of venues. Buying a mic is a personal choice but the EV ND96 completes a few essential requirements extremely well. Off axis sound rejection, handling noise and plosives are all taken care of leaving a beautiful balanced sound that will give any level of performer enjoyment. I'd even use this in the studio as an alternative to my condenser mics for certain projects.

It is right up there with the Sennheiser e945 which is also a superb mic. Too close to call.

Happy to recommend. Highly!

EV microphone ND96

I chose this microphone in a blindfold test. Clearer, stronger than anything else I tried. Feedback is almost impossible. One caveat, It does not like to be dropped. This is not a Shure that you can hammer nails with and keep on singing. I have a high range (Tenor) and this microphone matches my voice...might not be the same for a baritone. I can't use a condenser mic as I don't like wires. I plug the ND96 into an Xvive U3 transmitter (available from Sweetwater) and I can walk 50 yards into the crowd and still be clear and strong. (You can also use the same transmitter for a amplified speaker)After hearing this mic, my whole band demand these microphones.

ND 96

In my 50+ years in music the EV ND 96 has met my needs better than any vocal microphone I've ever owned. Thank you EV.

Outstanding stage vocal mic

I have used this mic for about 4 years now, gigging at various local venues as the frontman for a classic rock cover band. It's outstanding. Crisp, accurate vocal reproduction with a noise to feedback ratio that's ideal for close, noisy environments, allowing for sufficient volume to let your vocal cut through the mix with no feedback, even in tight spots with stage monitors. Just as rugged as an SM58, but better tone and less gain needed. Even the shape of the grill (flatter vs. rounded) seems more intuitive for lead vocals, helping you zero in on that supercardioid sweet spot, whether you are choked up, mouth on the mic, or pulling back for those building notes. I highly recommend this mic for any gigging leaf vocalist.

Excellent Mic

Excellent clarity, responsiveness and volume. I typically used a SM58 or a Peavey mic when playing out in the past, and at church I used a wireless Shure 87A. This mic is definitely the best out of them all.
