Quality Dependable Guitar

I'm going on a year now playing everyday and this was my first guitar. I've bought others since with Floyd Rose and Ashtray and returned others. As much as I want to love them, I keep coming back to this guitar for rock solid quality, versatile sound options, comfortable layout, stable tuning and an extremely smooth and playable neck. Seems modest priced guitars are a crapshoot. I'm still very content with this guitar as an all rounder and it's the one that keeps me moving forward. I'm glad I went with the V version as the alnico pickups sound great IMHO. This guitar doesn't beg for mods as there are no glaring weak spots. I will have other guitars in the future but I'm certain this guitar will always be in the rotation. Shout out to SW and Dave M for unbelievable service, set up and care for each and every order.

Love this guitar.

Bought this guitar as my first electric and I love it. I specifically wanted a HSS pickup configuration for the variety of tones, a wood grain finish, and a nice, aesthetically pleasing headstock. I had chose this guitar for fitting all that, and it is just perfect. For what I wanted out of an electric guitar, its amazing.

Sweetwater's service was great as well. They had double boxed the guitar and put a few goodies in there. I had the shipping location changed, and they handled it really quickly and easily. And, while in anticipation of its arrival, they sent me the high quality photo shoot of the guitar, which was fun to stare at until the thing actually arrived.

Outstanding bang for the buck

First off, for the $, this is put together really well. The fit and finish are fantastic. It feels and plays like a much more expensive guitar. The natural/blond finish feels great, and the neck is smooth as silk. The fingerboard and frets are very nicely done, and the guitar holds tune pretty well. I have tried the tremolo and like a lot of cheaper tremolos in this style, it doesn't hold tune with significant use (if you want to dive-bomb, get a guitar with a locking trem), but it's fine for mild use. One the whole, looking and holding this guitar, you'd think it costs a lot more. Yamaha knocks it out of the park with this line.

Second, how it sounds. Playing acoustically, it really rings. I'm used to jumbo frets on my other guitars, and so I wasn't sure how the action would feel, but it arrived from Sweetwater pretty well set up--I just have to adjust intonation on a couple strings. No fret buzz. Plugging it in, the pickups sound really good. Each position on the 5-way switch gives a distinctive tone, and the push-pull tone pot is easy to work to split the bridge humbucker, giving even more versatility. I will say the only "bad" things about this guitar involve the pots--there is some circuit noise when operating the tone pot, and neither the volume nor the tone controls seem to do much for 50% of their rotation. But for the price, the fact that this is the only knock I can find on this guitar seems to me to be incredible. Oh, one other thing--splitting the humbucker seems to increase the volume coming from the pickup significantly.

I can't see into the future, but this guitar feels like it is built really well and should last a long time, so if those pots get to the point where I am bothered by their performance, it's a pretty cheap upgrade. The pickups on this model are already upgraded compared to the lower-end Pacifica models, so I'm in no rush to change those out, so ultimately a couple cheap volume/tone pots are the only tiny thing I can critique. The guitar itself is light and yet solidly built, and it looks really pretty. Fantastic value with Yamaha quality.

Great Bang for the Buck

After trying a half dozen guitars in the 200-300 dollar range I decided on the Pacifica 112v as my first electric guitar and I am happy that I did. it arrived from Sweetwater perfectly setup right out of the box, and it is a dream to play. I’ve been playing acoustics for about 18 months and finally took the plunge on an electric, and I wish I would not have waited so long. They are so much easier to play, so if you are contemplating making the change for the same reason I did, do not hesitate, and I can enthusiastically endorse the Pacifica 112v and Sweetwater.

Outstanding!

First of all, I cannot say enough about the Sweetwater order and shippping! I literally had the guitar less than 24 hours after my order, with standard shipping - amazing.

Now, to the guitar - I'm an older musician, still relatively "new" to guitar. I've been playing very casually for years, but have decided to dedicate more time to actually learning the instrument. This Yamaha is a great value. First, the fit and finish are fantastic for a guitar in this price range. It's a very mod-friendly platform - the body is thick enough to handle the bigger trem blocks, and it should easily handle any pickup combo you'd like to try. There are several forums that go into detail for those interested.

That said, for my needs, this guitar sounds great the way it is. It came to me pretty much set up from Sweetwater - I lowered the string height a little bit, but otherwise, it was good to go. The pickups sound good, the guitar feels comfortable in the hands and is a joy to play. I think I may be a Yamaha guitar fan now!

Thank you very much to Sweetwater, especially to Jake Trethaway - you've got a loyal customer!
