PGA-181

I got a sweetwater gift card for christmas Im all set for gear and didnt really need much but I had heard about this mic so decided thats what I would get,I tried it on acoustic guitar and it recorded right where it was aimed with very little coming from the sides, top & bottom that was great. I put it above the drum kit and it was very good, I have some nice studio mic's but this is going to be on some sessions for sure !!! And at $. its a great deal It looks like a dynamic mic but its a condensor needing 48v phantom power so keep that in mind !.

Wow great mics for the money.

Saw these on a Produce Like A Pro Video. I figured, what the heck I will mic the rear wall/floors as a spare set of room mics and see what happens. I was shocked and just how great these mics were for end of the room corner drum mics (pointed at the ground). The drums sounded great through this pair, and mixed with the close mics, the sound was magical. I just need to try them as tom mics, and maybe guitar mics and do an update. You can go wrong using these a room mics to record band practice too. Again just very good mics for the cash.

Do yourself a favor and BUY A DOZEN OF THESE

Honestly, you cannot possibly get a better price to performance ratio than this mic, plus the small size, convenience of the side addressed design, etc. I don't have a single bad thing to say about this mic, aside from maybe you can't own enough of them.

Is this a U87 killer? No, and it's not supposed to be. I can easily imagine this being a staple, workhorse of a mic in anything from bedroom home studios to Hollywood recording sessions.

Outstanding Condenser built like a tank

I've had this microphone for a couple of years now and use it for lead vocals and micing acoustic instruments. I've used the high end condensers in countless recording sessions over the years from the big brands including Blue, MXL, Audio Technica, Ect. From being in bands as a teen I was always told Shure is the best mic you can get. They are built to last and are like tanks. Well I've been using Mics since the age of 16. The PG series is an amazing bang for your buck mic series for those starting out and needing a reliable vocal mic. I was blown away by this mic. The mic really captures every nuance of the voice. I've used it for my vocals many times in my studio and I love it. Would I like to upgrade some day, yea. But this little bad boy is awesome! I did a recording session back in 2018 and I recorded my tracks in my studio and sent them to the engineer/producer. He heard my mandolin tracks and asked what mic did I use because it sounded amazing. I told him this mic and he was blown away! He said I could have sworn it was a 500 dollar mic you used. I said nope. He went and bought a couple! So that speaks volumes! Built to last, and the sound to match. If it says Shure it's built to last and is the best!

Desert Island Microphone

There are a few microphones you encounter over the years that I would consider "desert island" mics: mics that are so good on multiple sources you could get by with just that. I'm thinking sm57 or 7b, re20 among others.

This Mic just sounds good-- it is classic Shure in that it just works and is very forgiving with respect to source and placement. Great on guitars, drums, voice and more.

At under $100, can you really justify not having one? Check it out, you'll be happy you did!
