Add a Kick Pad to Any Drum Kit

Add a powerful electronic kick drum pad to your set with Roland's SPD-One Kick. This standalone kick drum pad includes a flexible sample player you can trigger from your kick pedal, hands, or sticks. It comes loaded with 22 killer kick and stomp percussion sounds, and you can always add custom sounds via USB. Tweak your sounds with reverb and distortion, pitch them to perfection, mount up your SPD-One Kick, and go to town. Whether you're fleshing out an electronic kit or putting together a hybrid rig, you're going to love the SPD-One Kick.

Killer sounds you can tweak to perfection

The SPD-One Kick drum pad comes loaded with a library of 22 top-notch kick and stomp percussion sounds, so it's super fun to play, right out of the box. Want to use your own sounds? No problem! Just connect it to your computer via USB and drop in the WAV files you want to play. Once you've loaded up the samples you want to play, there are several onboard options that let you further customize your SPD-One Kick's sound. For starters, you can tune your samples up or down to get them to fit in with the rest of your kit or to create cool special effects. Speaking of effects, built-in reverb and distortion are also great ways to make the most of your drum sounds.

Integrates into any drum or percussion rig

Whether you're light on the pedal or hard on your heads, the Roland SPD-One Kick drum pad can handle any playing dynamics you like. In addition to setting the volume and effects, the sensitivity is totally adjustable. You can even set it up for stick or hand use as part of a complete percussion rig. As for mounting, the included hardware gives you tons of options. It mounts to the floor or drum hardware for use as a kick drum, but it will also mount to a mic stand or just prop on a table, so there are tons of great ways you can put your SPD-One Kick to use. Finally, there's no need to bother with extra cables (unless you feel like picking up an optional power supply), since the SPD-One Kick drum pad runs efficiently on four AA batteries.

SPD-One: a new direction in virtual drums

Twenty years after launching the original V-Drum line, Roland is still at it, revolutionizing the world of virtual drums in exciting and creative new ways. The SPD-One combines the standalone modular approach of the traditional SPD series that drummers at Sweetwater already love in a format that lets you build the exact kit you have in mind. Want to add an electronic snare or tom? No problem. Replace your kick with a pad? Piece of cake. Build a full kit or just add the pieces you want; it's all up to you with Roland's SPD-One series.

Fun!

This thing is a joy to play! Sounds great in the PA.

Buy two!

I play bass in a trio. I bought two of these to add some percussion to our band. I have a pedal under each foot. One set to a bass drum for beats one and three, and the other set to various shakers for beats two and four. It adds a whole new dimension to our sound.

Very Useful Live

Have played a ton of duo gigs using this. We use mostly a kick sound for 4 on the floor tunes and sidestick on 2 and 4 for some other tunes. We have it back in the mix but it really adds to the energy on the right tunes (about half of our songlist). My partner stomps it and has really developed skills around steady tempo and dynamics. He's not a fan of backing tracks so it's become our solution to enhancing our live show in way that works for both of us.

We tried a piezo stomp at first, it was finicky, hard to dial in and is limited to a single sound. He has this mounted right on his pedal board which has a flat front platform and angled upper section for his acoustic preamp and other pedals. He uses a sheet of rubber cabinet liner cut to size under his board to keep it from creeping forward.

I know this is also intended for drummers to be played with sticks, have no experience there. I would say performing with this would be difficult if you solo a bunch on guitar or otherwise. Highly recommended otherwise!

Super fun learning tool

I am intermediate at playing guitar, and always working to improve my sense of rhythm and timing. This is a super fun addition to my pedal board.

For my practice setup, my electric guitar goes into a tube amp, and this kick pad gets plugged into a Yamaha modelling amp (THR10II). I can bluetooth my phone to the modelling amp and setup a metronome beat (usually a snare hit). I use this kick pad to do the kick drum part.

It sounds GREAT and is incredibly helpful for developing extremely steady tempo and rhythm. It is way more fun than a metronome and gives a ton of biofeedback about when the rhythm gets off because you can clearly hear it when you lose the beat.

My nits about it are, 1. of course the power chord is separate and $$$, and 2. it tends to walk forward when tapped if its not on just the right surface.

If you like to play barefooted at times, it has a sensitivity and threshold adjustment and can be used barefooted, though its less fiddly with shoes on.

It has 11 stock sounds and one user defined. The reverb and FX knob shape the sound to a useful extent.

I wish I had gotten one sooner. Also looking forward to using it as a midi drum pad for my home studio.

This digital stomp box / pad rocks!

I originally considered buying a piezo stomp box but liked the ability to change sounds and add effects. After playing with it I'm even more sold. I love the flexibility to dial in the tone by tuning the samples up and down in pitch. It can put out some really smooth and natural sounds or some otherworldly low rumbles. Or of course it can go the other way and modulate the samples into more of a chirpy sound but I don't ever see using that function. I recently used it as a stomp box while playing an acoustic cajon with the tuning pulled way down and the reverb way up to give me a heavy percussive hit that complemented the cajon's natural bass thump. I haven't had to mess with the threshold or sensitivity dials - the triggers seems well set up for a stomp box and fire reliably and with pretty accurate dynamics right out of the box.

Simply put, modern electronic music wouldn't exist without Roland. Many of the electronic musicians here at Sweetwater cut our teeth on TR Rhythm machines and fondly remember programming our first TB-303s. We owe a good part of our careers to this amazing and innovative company. It's been fun to watch and grow right alongside Roland, as they've introduced wave after wave of revolutionary keyboards, digital pianos, and more. For example, Roland's V-Drum Kits continuously redefine the possibilities of electronic drums, beginning with SuperNATURAL technology to the latest Prismatic Sound Modeling. We're huge fans, and we'd love to tell you all about them. Whether you want a pocket-sized synth or a cutting-edge video mixer, if Roland makes it, then Sweetwater is 100% behind it.
