Yamaha Quality at an Affordable Price

The Yamaha TRBX174 bass guitar is an outstanding value for the modern bassist. The TRBX series is one of Yamaha's most popular basses, and for good reason. This cool-looking, great-sounding bass gives you a comfortable Yamaha body shape and a fast-action bolt-on maple neck with a smooth-playing sonokeling fingerboard. You get strong, punchy tone from the P/J arrangement of split-coil/single-coil pickups. Factor in the solid hardware and a range of great finishes, and you've got an eye-catching and ear-catching bass with the Yamaha TRBX174.

Comfortable body with progressive styling

One look at the Yamaha TRBX174 electric bass, and you know it means business. A deep cutaway gives you clean access to the higher registers for soloing, while the pronounced upper bout provides balance (and looks cool). You're going to love the way the TRBX174 looks and feels!

P/J pickup arrangement for a universe of great bass tones

The Yamaha TRBX174 sports a classic pickup layout: a split-coil in the middle position and a single-coil at the bridge. The Precision-style split-coil serves up the beef, giving you solid, deep fundamentals. the Jazz-style single delivers the growl, with strong mids and highs (particularly if you're strung up with round-wounds). How you combine the pickups is up to you, but one thing's for sure - you've got tons of tonal options!

Yamaha quality, through and through

The Yamaha TRBX174 bass is covered by the company's Limited Lifetime Warranty. Yamaha has been making world-class instruments for over a century, and they're supremely confident of the quality of the materials and workmanship that goes into their products. You can rest easy that you've made a solid decision in purchasing the Yamaha TRBX174 electric bass guitar!

Low Priced Bass With A Soul

What makes the TRBX174 so special is that unlike a cheap guitar or bass which is an amalgamation of parts hastily slapped together into something that just makes sounds is that this bass has a soul. What does that mean exactly?

When an instrument has a soul it means that it's greater than the sum of its parts. It means that there's music inside this instrument waiting to get out, waiting for someone to discover the music inside.

It's thick, beefy on the neck and not exactly light, but it feels so compact and accessible and has it's own unique voice. No issues whatsoever with the tuning pegs as you can wail on the strings and it stays in tune.

I put a Gotoh 201B Bridge on mine and brass knobs and it's highly stable with a low action.

Finish is flawless on my Mango wood EW. It's not trying to be a thousand buck bass. But it is unique and this bass will grow on you. Spend some time with the TRBX 174 and you'll be amazed.

Sweet little bass

I have over the years put together a studio that I was certain never to have. Darius at Sweetwater is the reason it all works and I am very glad to have done business with. As to my excellent bass it fingers well it plays awesome and I couldn't have been happier with the simple easy way that it got from my phone to my house. Not a scratch, set up well. Sweetwater thanks for everything!
