1x1 USB-MIDI Interface with USB Type-C and -A Connectors

The original iConnectivity mio continues to be our go-to solution for quickly capturing MIDI performances in a tracking session or injecting virtual instrument audio into a live PA. Now, iConnectivity has upped the ante with the mioXC. This 1x1 DIN-MIDI interface features USB Type-A and Type-C connectors so as to work with all modern PC and Mac workstations. The mioXC's ultra-low latency round trip is powered by a powerful 32-bit ARM Cortex processor. This makes the mioXC an ideal solution for monitoring virtual instruments in a live or recording environment. And because the mioXC is Class-Compliant, it's compatible with all with your favorite iPad and iPhone music apps (requires optional Apple USB Camera Adapter). And of course, any Android device with a USB-C port is supported as well. Need to quickly capture 16 channels of MIDI I/O? Look no further than the iConnectivity mioXC USB-MIDI interface from Sweetwater.

This Interface Worked for Me

I have a cheap old Yamaha Keyboard (PSR-195) that I bought in the nineties. It has MIDI in and out ports so I thought I would take a chance with this cable. You need to plug the "in" jack into the "out" port and the "out" jack into the "in" port. It worked right out of the box on my MacBook M1 without any software drivers or additional setup. Now I can play my cheapo keyboard through my audio interface and studio monitors, as well as use the keyboard as a midi controller for GarageBand. The USB-C to USB-A adapter also comes in handy because of the lack of USB-C ports on the MacBook. If you don't have a hub for additional ports for your MacBook, you won't be able to charge the MacBook while you are using the midi interface with the audio interface, but if you have a recent MacBook you probably figured you need to spring for a hub for additional ports.

Good help

Very helpful—and patient in working out my situation-i had no knowledge in how i was going to get my keyboard music transfered onto my computer-and the exact sound i wanted-it was achieved—thanks andrew

Excellent Midi Solution

I have the older version of this, the one that is just USB-A not USB-C.

This thing works great without drivers on Mac and also works well with an MPC, I haven't tried it with anything else.

You have to connect the "out" midi DIN to your keyboards "in" and the "in" to your keyboards "out". That part was a little confusing.

Also note that this is mainly for connecting to your computer (or a device like the new MPCs that do midi over USB).

If you are trying to connect a midi keyboard to another midi keyboard (sometimes I control my Vox Continental 73 with my Arturia) then you may want to consider using standard midi cables, or check to make sure that one of the keyboards can do midi over USB.

It works

When upgrading to OS Monterey, midisport stopped working. I-connectivity did the job.

Okay, this is cool.

I grabbed the mioXC so I could use it with my Mac (which only has USB-C ports) and an old E-Mu sampler that only has DIN MIDI ports. It works perfectly with SysEx dumps and dense MIDI streams and I like the little USB-C to USB-A dongle that lets me plug the interface into my Windows box as well.
